This might be a ridiculous question, but I like to ask, before I spend, ........being old and tight!
How much trouble would there be in fitting a Ruger "HUNTER" grip frame--(s/s, of course)-- to a standard Blackhawk frame?
The regular Blackhawk grip frame is just too small for me, and I would like something larger, WITH WOOD, so I can get away from the Pachmyer grip.

I put two of them on Original Size VAQUEROS and a third on a stainless 22 SUPER SINGLE SIX. They pretty much drop in, but a good gunsmith or capable amateur can fit them up to better than the factory does by polishing.
The DRAGOON is nice, but I like the HUNTER and the BISLEY even better.

There are some differences in the height of the "ears" of the grip frames. Some fitting is required. The stainless steel Hunter grip frame is easily "polished" to look nice after fitting. Now, finding one may be a problem. One can always just reshape the standard Super Blackhawk trigger guard..... Carl

Allright, I wasn't going to post a pic, but now that Carl has... This is a Ruger SBH grip frame that has had the trigger guard rounded by forging (different than the cut+weld of Carl's), and has been stuck on this old Vaquero that I used to have hanging out in the back of the safe. It still needs final fitting as of this pic.

Here's one of my favorite shooters. A .45 cal. Blackhawk fitted with a Super hammer and a Hunter grip frame. Carl

Personally I prefer the smaller grip where I can put my pinky under grip and keep the gun from rolling in my hand for faster second shot and the hammer hit the web of my hand from recoil . It also keeps all my Vaquero's shooting centered on targets and felt recoil down for me .... Now I don't shoot any 454 or 475 , my 357 MAX and level 3 44-40 are my heavy kickers .
