For those of you that use a Simply Rugged sourdough pancake holster for your single action. How is the retention of the revolver when carried in the cross-draw position? Looking to use one for when I'm driving the sxs utv around.

I have one and it is very versatile! Rob makes all kind of add ons to it for a number of useful options, including his "flapjack" or harness straps to wear across the chest or as a bandolier shoulder rig. The flapjack is very handy when hunting in heavy snow or rain, and leaves the revolver when needed in a hurry, and unsnaps for instant removal if you don't want to use it, leaving the holster open. The first picture shows the flapjack that pivots down over the grip to close the holster from water and snow entering, as well as pivots up automatically when you reach in to grab the grip. It also shows the belt slots to adjust left right front back strongside use in any situation you choose. Then the second picture shows it with the chesty puller strapps and attachments he sells for it, which also will work with my sour dough for my 1911 holster. And yes it does a good job of retaining the revolver, mine is a 7.5" but use it for 6" and 5.5" revolvers when I want an enclosed holster for hunting in inclement weather. It is my most protective holster in my hunting arsenal. Plus it truly is "Simply, Rugged"!

I love the looks of that Flapjack holster. How is ease of drawing your Revolver out of there while your strapped up with the Chesty Puller straps. I'm looking at one of those for a 629 MG or Whatever big gun I might buy for an Alaskan trip

I'm looking at one of those for a 629 MG or Whatever big gun I might buy for an Alaskan trip It is all about how you adjust it for you; This was how I set it up for use on an Alaskan fishing trip I was thinking about taking. It made it convenient if needed in the middle of a stream, but totally out of the way for fishing. I hunt with it more to the side but tucked tight to the body to duck under obstructions and have never had it fall out. Then with the FLAP JACL attached I can easily pivot it out of the way in one swift motion when reaching for the grip, almost as if it were not even there, but my revolver is totally protected from filling with rain snow or whatever, keeping iit ready as if nothing were even their! This important in Ohio as all hunting arms must be worn outside your clothing in plain sight. Rob came up with a very practical and easy to use system, that is the most versatile and adjustable including belt draw from strong side to crossdraw, very little this outfit can not be setup for, and be extremely efficient and dependable doing it..
