Thanks! Really good info! The 41 Specials seem to be multiplying around here so I’m always glad to have more data points. I appreciate you taking the time to gather and share your findings.
If I could just run out of guns that seem to need a new home here, I sure need to get a chronograph so I can add to the information pool.

Thanks for posting this data. Currently awaiting a 6" O.M. Blackhawk 41 Special from Dave Clements.
Meanwhile, it'll come in handy for my Fa-97 41 Magnum.
This is sure worth printing and keeping...

Mr. Clements turned a USFA Shooting Master into a 5.5" .41 Special for me in 2013. Has seen nothing but that 250 Keith/7.0 grain load. I'm figuring right around 1000 fps. Have only shot the same load for the Uberti Cattlemen that Jack Huntington made up last year..just works..

With a .41 Special on the way, this is perfect timing for me. Much appreciated.

Not much that 250 gr Keith bullet at 1000 fps won't take care of Bob, good info. Stingy on powder too!

I kinda hate to admit this, but I asked Dave Clements to build me a 41 Special strictly for Longshot Powder.
A pound goes far and produces ballistics out of proportion for the charge weight.
But, you're right. Push comes to shove (and it might) efficient cartridges come in handy.

Chronographed the 255/7.0 load today:
5.5" USFA: 1036/35 ES fps
4.75" Uberti: 1038/43 ES fps
Just what I was hoping for..

Had to change the numbers just slightly... It was really 1036 and 1038
Since this load shoots POA for both guns it will be the only load I plan on using in them.
When I was shooting with Mackay Sagebrush in Idaho in 2014 I had the Clements Custom with me. We were shooting at rocks about the size of a breadbox at 2-400 yards and not having any trouble hitting them..good accurate mild shooting load.

Im curious how you do that? I don't understand the question... Build a gun strictly for a given powder?

It has nothing to do with the build. I just had no interest in the 41 Special until I loaded some with Longshot Powder and tried them in my FA-97 41 Magnum.
I'd seen the same performance increase in the 10mm Auto. So, I decided to build a 41 Special.
It's also my choice for midrange 454 Casull. It's a fascinating recipe in reality. It provides more power than the 44 Magnum with a lesser powder charge than a 357 Magnum.

I'll add another - 6 grs of Green Dot and my 240 gr LFN goes 900 fps. Easy on the gun and groups tight. Up it to 7 grs with the Magnum for 1,000 fps. -Lee www.singleactions.com "Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
