My pastor gave me 300 small pistol primers! Reload everything has no H4350 or Unique.

My local gun store called me today with some good news, they got a small shipment of primers in today, picked up 3000 CCI #300, don't know if this is a sign that things are coming back, but I should be good for awhile now.

Really, ouch, I paid 38$ per 1000 ct box of the CCI primers that I mentioned in my post above, I guess they did go up about a buck, but the prices you guys just quoted are down right ridiculous, glad I picked up 3 boxes, they are all out today. Feeling bad for guys wanting to start out reloading, those ridiculous prices could become the norm for a long while, this will include powder, bullets, presses and die sets, you name it. Glad I got what I did. when I did.

PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE EXCUSES! I ALWAYS HEAR "HOW CAN YOU AFFORD SO MANY GUNS" AS THEY CRAWL INTO THEIR $80,000 PICK-UP AND I DRIVE AWAY IN MY LONG PAID FOR '97 CHEVY. OR THEY DRIVE TO THEIR $500,000+ FANCY HOME AND I AM HAPPY WITH THE HOUSE WE BOUGHT IN 1969 FOR $18,500 AND IT HAS BEEN PAID FOR FOR DECADES. NO CAR PAYMENTS; NO HOUSE PAYMENTS ALLOW A LOT OF DISPOSABLE INCOME. ANOTHER EXCUSE IS SHOOTING GLASSES ARE "TOO EXPENSIVE"! SO THEY CAN'T SHOOT ANYMORE.
Above quote from Mr Taffin.
I knew we thought alike. I heard it for years at work. With the money you make you should be buying a new truck. I’d reply that all I can see is the hood and windshield. But when I’d like to buy a gun I most likely could. Stock up when you can.👍👍👍

Around last Christmas, the local reloading supply shop had primer sales, $22.99 and $24.99 per thousand. Spent a couple hundred bucks. My buddy asked why I needed so many. “ That will last me at least two years, maybe more” I told him. he said “that’s a lot of money, I just get a few hundred when I need them” I would rather have enough on hand and have more than I need, than need more than I have. Guess who was the first one trying to get into my primers, at what I bought them on sale for. My trucks 10 years old ( paid cash for it too) Only has 70 K miles on it. I can buy many new guns for not having a truck payment. This truck is good for at least ten more!

I still have primers from the 1990s... and from 2008, and 2010. and.... I paid anywhere from $13.75 to $30 per 1,000.
I don't understand all the scrambling for primers, powder, ammo, etc.

It’s not being a hoarder, it’s planning for the future. Nothing wrong with being prepared. If we get bad weather for a week straight, and can’t leave the ranch, we have what we need. I’ve never understood going to town daily to purchase today’s needs. I’m only 15 minutes from services, there’s just no reason to not being at least mildly prepared ( like having some powder and primers handy)

To add to that last statement, when ammunition was readily available( before last Christmas) I kept telling people to “Stock up, while prices are good, and Ammo is available” “ if you have a hundred bucks pick up 5 bricks of .22LR or a 500 case of 9mm.” I made purchases while there was sales, if nothing else my normal shooting stock is cheaper, so I get more. By today’s prices and availability, I could sell some Ammo and purchase a new truck

Between working out of town, running a business and limited family time, I had stopped reloading. Since covid-19 has killed the business, I have had plenty of spare time to get back into my shooting and start back loading since I can't buy like I used to. Shooting steel again can quickly eat the thousands of rounds I had stocked up just getting back in practice for competition. I didn't have any large stocks from before since I didn't reload then. Between myself and my son in law, we have scrounged what we could. Plenty of brass around. Bought a lot of powder too. Now have about a ton of wheel weight smelted to ingots ready to cast. Just need primers. This won't happen again. I'll keep 5 years worth of everything on hand

Well, i had hoped this thread would be for folks to help each other find components.. I hope someone here nabbed the 45 bullets I mentioned earlier. Yesterday at Great Lakes Outdoor Supply in Middlefield Ohio I found powders, mostly of the shotgun variety, but as most should know, many work in handgun sized cartridges. I brought some Universal home. They had Longshot. The Universal was 23.99 per LB..
