I cannot speak to longevity, but I have owned the Camp 9, the Camp 45 and a slew of other pistol rifle semi autos. Most I have watched leave for one reason or another. I used the Camp 9 with +P hollow points (before any monolithic or bonded bullets were available). It shot reasonably well, no complaints. The ammunition in hollow point form back then would not penetrate for beans, so I guess it is more about the ammunition than the weapons. Even with ball ammunition I found the effective killing power, well, lacking. I never found a comfortable middle ground. Off it went. Even +P+ subgun ammo was lackluster and I feared beating the little thing to death.
The Camp 45 was the next. Accurate enough. Again I never found a combination that suited me. The closest I got to perfection was Speer Lawman 200 grain HP's out of the carbine. By this time, finding the old "Black Talon" rounds was nearing impossible and I was told this was the same loading without all the bravado. Drop with the 230 grain ball loads was a challenge at distance. 180 grain bullet blew up on hogs at close range. I did not cast back then so that leaves another topic of discussion.
May I suggest: and this is my opinion from experience, not that it was solicited... Resist the High Point carbines. That ridiculous spring thing of a stock and the soft rubber cheek piece is an abomination. It will rip hair and flesh from your face every time you pull the trigger. (Ask me how I know) I actually ripped the soft rubber pad off and replaced it with thick leather.

I always thought the Ruger PC in 40 S&W to be the "better" caliber between the 3...
that said... the 45 properly outfitted could make a nice farm house defense gun

I had an opportunity to try one out in .45 acp for a weekend years ago and always wanted one after that. The old boy who owned that one wouldn’t sell it and I’ve never run across one since when I had cash in pocket. The idea of a .45 carbine with a wood stock appeals to me much more than all the black plastic ones out there.

Have one in 45. Use a 10 or 15 round mag and it is great fun, can walk the bullets right up to the target at a distance. Use the dirty Wolf ammo so I don't chase the cases but it really does get messy from the blow back from the action. Have a folding stock and two wood stocks and a Williams peep sight. It did beat up the original wood stock which I glued back together and reinforced with steel before painting flat black. Will never sell.
