Im sure Alabamas minimum barrel length is 4” for handgun hunting. And I believe it says centerfire mushrooming ammunition, so no actual minimum caliber. About three years ago they took away handgun hunting for turkeys. I surely hope they dont take away handgun hunting for other game.

I was told they did away with handguns for turkey over a safety issue. Some kind of incident happened at Bankhead involving a handgun turkey hunting.

Maybe so, I called DNR about it a year or two ago and the officer I spoke with was quite rude to me and said they have had too many folks using the AR pistol to turkey hunt. He didnt site an exact incident.

Reflex, what model is that 40 Longslide, a G35 or a G24? G22 frame with a custom slide. Uses a 6.02" barrel like a 24. This is one of those hand fit Deals kind of like a Barstow. Shoots lights out. Really fun to shoot.

North Carolina laws used to state 357 mag as the minimum, 5.5" barrel, no fmj. For rifle cartridge pistol it was min 243win and 10" bottle necked or 5.5" straight wall 357 minimum power level. Most of that really made sense. Now the law reads any center fired, no barrel length restrictions. I've actually seen an asshole on gamelands last year with a 9mm hi point. Asked what he was loaded with. He said 147 subsonic "cause if the SEALs use it, it's got to be the most powerful! Instead of just shaking my head and walking off like I was tempted too, I invited the kid to the range. He grew up with a single liberal mother and knew ZERO about guns. A few weeks later he actually called, so I took him down to the club and ran a few courses of steel. My Caspian limited by Nowlin facinated him. Up until we changed ranges and he started ringing the 100 yard gong with my old model 57. So he joined the club. Saw him last weekend and darned if he wasn't getting his new pistol ready for gun season. A 10mm Glock!! He claimed it is the best of both worlds.

Bigbore5: Great story. Too many would have msde some sarcastic comment, written him off, and created issues instead of helping someone join our club. Good job!

As to hunting with Glocks, you're out of my league.
I've gone rabbit hunting a few times (got two more with a 26 than two hunting partners got with shotguns once).
I also once made a perfect shot on a running / quickly waddling? skunk from about 60 yards while semi-standing on back of running 4 wheeler with a 26. Was helping driver sight in his new AR. We jumped on his 4 wheeler to check target and saw the skunk on the way. Had the 26 with me. He stopped. I raised up, leaned forward a bit (so blast in front of him), and took a shot at that incredibly unlucky skunk.
I would no longer have the confidence or skill to really, seriously hunt with one now.
