I have it in an AR and in a Ruger bolt action. Both are fun and my GF likes to shoot both. Now... THAT'S the best reason I've heard yet!

My GF really liked her 300BO, but when I gave her a Grendel she completely stopped using it. It makes for a great foul weather GP hunting rifle, since everything is aluminum and stainless.

On my second one. First was AA build with 24” barrel. Current is an AA 14.5” barrel with a welded on flash suppressor. Both are/ were extremely accurate. I really like the cartridge. I don’t think you could go wrong.

I built mine with a 18" Faxon barrel, and Faxon bolt. S&W lower, BCM upper, HM handguard, and gas system. Larue trigger, and topped it with a SWFA SS 10X42. Love the gun, and the way it shoots. Wish I had more time to shoot it.

I built an AR in Grendel after I experienced such great performance of the round in my contender. I'd like to see more sporting use of the cartridge in more traditional guns other than the black rifles.

I have building a Remington Model Seven in 6.5 Grendel on my to do list. My buddy already built his. I got the idea after reading Arne Brennan's article about barrel life on his. www.6mmbr.com/65grendel.html

In a bolt gun (or my Blaser K95) I'll put my .270 Winchesters shooting 110gn Barnes TTSX bullets at around 3400fps up against any 6.5.
Do the math....

What am I missing here?

Nothing. LOL!
One of those "moments," I guess. Not unusual for me to miss irony.
Kind of cool - "young-uns" are taking to such cartridges as this and other that are not the "hottest" and "wildest" available, but I don't think a lot of them really even get that. I asked a kid (OK, 40 or so) why HE picked the "Credemoor" and he babbled stuff for a bit and then said, "I dunno, it sounds cool." Had to chuckle.
The Grendel looks appealing to me in a CZ 527. Not going to be the ultimate "zapper," but it fits in the rifles I like carrying these days.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the mild mannered rounds and light weight, easy carrying guns.
Of course the round doesn't compare to those based on the '06 case. That's like saying the 44 Magnum doesn't equal the 500 S&W.
But, the smaller rounds have so many benefits. Even now as reloading components and supplies get hard to get usefulness increases. Compare the number of reloads from a pound of powder.
We've been in a Magnum Era too long with magazines pimping out the cartridges that require 60+ grains of powder. Reading today, young folks think one of the 300 Magnums is required to put down Whitetails.
A few years back I picked up a Ruger #1 in 7.62x39mm on clearance. It was about 1/2 MSRP. My intent was to use it as a base gun for a 25-20 WCF. But, I made the mistake of shooting it. It shoots a regular 1" at 100 yards. With CFE BLK Powder, I can push a 123 grn SST to 2500+ fps. With Unique Powder and the 100 grn XTP 32 Pistol Bullet, it's a dead ringer for the old 32-20 loads.

I went all in on 6.8SPC & would love a CZ 527 in that chambering. It's no end all/be all cartridge, but it's accurate & hammers 200lb mammals out to 450yds. More than enough for just about any purpose I can imagine using it for. 'N as a former grunt, why tote any more weight than you have to?

I’ve got two that I haven’t done anything with yet. One is an 18”AR rifle built by Alexander Arms and I also have a 12” upper from PSA that is shockingly well built for the price. Hopefully this winter I will get out and actually get some shooting/loading done with them..
