I admit I don't get out much, but I did manage to get to the range yesterday. Was policing up my brass and saw three cute little cases lying there...hmm..6.5 Grendel? I had heard of it...seen some for sale, had no real reason to get excited. Cases got me thinking, so I looked it up last night...Pretty impressive little round, that I don't need another of. Maybe. Seems to be an inherently accurate cartridge. Some pretty decent uppers for not too much money and I'd *almost* be in business...more dies...more brass...more tgan likely more powders. Anybody running one of these? Thanks

I picked one up from another forum member not long ago and have yet to get rounds loaded for it yet. He was getting some pretty amazing groups with the load he was using.

Yes, totally love the cartridge. But, not in ARs.
Have it in TC Contender Carbine and 13" Pistol. Also added the CZ-527 in it.

I have one I take hunting every few years, though I've yet to fire it at anything. I guess this is my second, since I originally had a different barrel and upper. I meant to sell the original barrel and never did... it's somewhere(?) in my house. lol

I run mine for pig abatement and the occasional deer, 125gr. Partition does wonders, complete penetration on deer out to 200yds, and pigs up to 150 pounds or so. The Hornady 120GMX also does well, it’s a great caliber for young or new hunters as well.

Mine is/was an Alexander Arms Overwatch from the early days of the Grendel. All of my brass is also AA, which is how they spelled Lapua back then.
It has had a Satern cut rifled barrel almost since it was new. I kinda turned it into a benchrest AR with about every bell and whistle for accuracy in this platform. Some things cost $$$ and don't really make big differences. i haven't fired it in about 4 years as my interests kinda moved on.
I've mostly shot 120/123 SMK's and 123 Scenar's, but a 108 Scenar is also a good choice when you're looking for speed. For easiest tuning and accuracy, I'd pick the 120 SMK. Not sexy or a higher BC, but they just plain shoot. Started with 2520 and 8208XBR, but ended up using LeverRevolution the most. I found LeverRevolution gave me the speed of 2520 and the accuracy of 8208 with the 120+ grain bullets.

Thanks to all... Now just need to decide if I want to invest in another caliber. Seems worthwhile.

Love the Grendel! I have a 23" G2 contender and a Howa mini with Oregon gun works bottom metal, both with 4x scopes.
Very handy!

I have it in an AR and in a Ruger bolt action. Both are fun and my GF likes to shoot both.

Once you get your dies set to your rifle (one sizing die for one rifle here), don't touch it especially if you're an AR guy looking for accuracy. My AA brass (AKA Lapua when I got all of mine) has lasted longer than any AR brass has a right to.
I played with mine at the 600 yard line and it shoots very well. Better than an AR should with exceptions. The little rascal can really perform out of proportion for the case size. Running a relatively slow powder for case size and a longer barrel can see some decent velocities. Off the top of my head I used 31.4 grains of LeverRevolution with the 123's mentioned above for 2650 +/- fps. This was my work up in my rifle.
2520 and 8208 were fine powders too but LeverRevolution ended my favorite. I think I'm repeating myself.

Don't know if I'm a cultist or not, but I put this "non-scary" Grendel together earlier this year... and just purchased a Howa mini in 6.5 Grendel a few days ago. I have bottom metal and a carbon fiber stock from Oregon Gunsmithing on the way to turn it into a reduced weight, handy to pack, deer/antelope/pig rifle. It won't be ready for this season, but I'm looking forward to packing it around next year. I hoping this little Howa/Grendel will make a dandy 300yd medium game "hunting" combo.

I don't yet own a Grendel, but own several 6.5x55 Swede rifles. I appreciate the efficiency and effectiveness of 6.5mm caliber cartridges and the idea of the Grendel is really appealing, both in the AR platform and in the CZ-527 (that's news to me!) Can any of you gentlemen with Grendels speak as to barrel life?
