Hi Fellas,
I have always been told that, to be safe when shooting semi-auto reloads (.45 ACP, .40 S&W, 10mm, etc.), you need a fully supported chamber. I have been doing that in my .45s and my 10mm, but I have recently had some reloaders tell me I am worrying too much.
Safety is a priority for me, so what do you experienced reloaders think? Fully supported all the way, maybe sometimes, or it's not a big deal? Thank you for your input.

In 10mm and other hot rounds, I think its a good idea, for the .45 and similar, nah...

Makes sense. What about 9mm and .40 S&W? They are still decently high pressure.

Makes sense. What about 9mm and .40 S&W? They are still decently high pressure. That largely depends on the specific gun. Glock has long had a reputation of having woefully unsupported chambers in their .40 S&W barrels, and they did - at one time. Glock is on their third iteration of a .40 S&W chamber, IIRC. The current one offers much better support than the older ones. I shot a bunch of max loads through my Gen 4 G22, and never experienced a 'Glock smiley' with that gun.
