If you were building a .32 k frame S&W would you have it chambered in .327 or .32 H&R?
I already have several .327 double actions, both S&W custom guns as well as a GP100 and a 4"SP101.
I sent off a M19 and a rebored S&W barrel and a M17 cylinder for the project....
I kinda want it for a bunny thumper with low velocity wadcutter loads, maybe even in .32 S&W long.
The classic K32 is chambered in the .32 S&W long but have a hard time spending the $$ and getting a gun without the option of higher velocities.
See my dilema?

GET 2 MODEL 17 CYLINDERS, 1 FOR 32 H&R AND 1 FOR THE 32 S&W LONG. I PREFER NOT TO SHOOT SHORTER ROUNDS IN LONGER CHAMBERS.

I don't have any experience shooting the shorter rounds in anything. I have guns chambered for the larger and smaller cartridges so just never felt the need. I've got extra cylinders.

I’d go with 32-20. I’m pretty low on the S&W knowledge totem pole, but think this old one is a K frame size. Tim

I would suggest just chambering for 32 H&R. It can be loaded for 32 S&W velocities (what you are looking for) or +P 32 H&R loads. Just my opinion.

I'm voting for 32 H&R only . It can do all OR as little as you should want. Any extra cylinders have a cool factor but in this case have kind of a redundant performance window.
Spend any extra money on build quality options.

Tim Yeah, but the .32-20 is harder to work with in my experience ans does better with bigger bullets. I did just pick up a pretty hard to find Lyman 32-20 mold that was made for the Australian market and jackrabbits. They had a lot of those falling block rifles (brain fart) converted to .32-20...

I found a complete cylinder for my K-32 and sent to Reeder`s to have it opened to 327 and fit to the gun.. Recieved it yesterday... Nice work and now have a four inch K-frame S&W in 32 mag and 327....

I'm still having a love affair with my 327 FA97 and enjoy how I can load it to screaming levels or just fast. However, if I were to have a DA in 32 cal (one of those fine S&W 16's) I'd probably stop at the 32 H&R.

32 H&R Mag. My Mdl. 16 was outstanding.

I'd go with a K-Frame 327 hands down. On a rebored Diamondback barrel for a classy 32 "Smolt"...I've had excellent results shooting 32 Mag through my 327 guns & wouldn't want to limit such a project to just 32 H&R although I do absolutely love the cartridge.

If you can find me a rebored diamondback barrel I'll do it. This one is going to have a K17 barrel with no underlug so it should be nice and lightweight. That Diamondback barrel, while beautiful will be HEAVY. Besides, I already have the Bowen 616 built on a M66. It's not a light revolver.

I am liking my somewhat recently acquired M631. My Ruger 32 H&R's get the stiffer loads. I go easy on this Smith. I would go 32 H&R.

My vote goes to the .327... Had a Model 53 that had the auxiliary .22 Rimfire cylinder and an extra barrel that I had burned out. Jack Huntington had the burned out barrel rebored and then rechambered the .22 RF cylinder to .327 preserving the replacement barrel and original .22 JET cylinder so at a later date it could be restored to .22 JET minus of course the .22 RF option except with inserts... Has made the perfect .327... Had a 4" 16-4/.32 H&R and sold it to Dick...he has made it his #1 ChuckBuster... Bob
