I know there are many members that have these on their Rugers. To those who put them in yourself. How much fitting was required to make it work properly?

What did you have to do to the 2 that required a little work?

A little filing . They have an instruction sheet that shows where you will need to work.

What does this do? Thanks. It allows Ruger single action cylinders to rotate both directions when loading. It's especially helpful if you use long heavy bullets and one of the bullets jumps the crimp and ties up the gun. You can just spin the cylinder back the opposite direction and pull the problem round.

Save yourself some money and buy a few replacement pawls from Ruger. File them down until they fit correctly. The only way to go if you are doing more than a couple. The last two I did I used the factory pawl without a backup pawl and they turned out fine. They are pretty cheap from Ruger...just a thought.

I took my Ruger SS Bisley .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible to my local pistolsmith for a trigger job. I sent him a copy of this thread: rugerforum.net/ruger-single-action/17014-ruger-stainless-bisley-45-45-acp-convertible.htmlScroll down to post #10 and you'll see a picture of a standard Ruger pawl modification. My smith did the modification and it works perfectly. He had a Power Custom Pawl in stock and said the modification was MUCH easier to do than install the Power Custom Pawl. FWIW Dale53

I have only Power free spins in all my SA . I had 3 gun I did with the file trick and they work well . The only thing I like the Power works better if you slip hammer in a match and drop the hammer after cocking over 3/4 way you can reach up and rotate backward to pickup that chamber . The one you file you must rotate all the way around to pickup that chamber . Saves me a lot of time in a match and worth the $30 cost for me . For a hunter or target shooter the one you file is great .
