In 2013 I read a report from Prasac over a BFR Revolver which is unshootable, the caliber was .50 Alaskan. Very interesting because that would be the gun for me.
In the same year I own a BFR in .500 S+W Magnum and asked my gunsmith Zindel, what he can do with this gun to make my dream real. But not a .50 Alaskan, because of not waste the .500 barrel, and not the .50 Alaskan B+M.
Zindel made a extra new cylinder from the strongest available material (1,8x stronger than the PH17-4 steel) in a new wildcat caliber, called .500 O&Z Maximum. That's a belted .50 Alaskan case without shoulder in the bullet diameter .500, which holds the pressure of over 95.000psi. The cylinder frame was slighty cutted out to fit the oversized cylinder.
He milled a complete new designed bisley grip frame, and a full length ERH from the frame until the compensator at 12".
....this revolver is the actual (since 2017) world record holder in the discipline "Flying Pigs" at the Freedom Arms Shoot in Germany. The shooter dropped the pig silhouette 16,27 meters (17,79 yards) away from its stand at 13 yards. The pig silhouette are slightly bigger then the IHMSA pig silhouette, with a weight of 1,9kg (4,2 pounds). But the funny thing is, the world record was shot with the .500 S+W Magnum cylinder and not with the wildcat cylinder!!
The old world record was shot with an Pfeiffer-Revolver in .458 Winchester, that was in 2007 with 15,08 meters (16,49 yards)

There's your ERH on a barrel that's not a straight taper!
Pretty cool....

It was a D-Max, not a BFR. The .50 Alaskan conversions I’ve shot built on BFRs are actually easier (a LOT easier) to shoot as the beefier platform is way better suited to the cartridge. It was just too much for the D-Max platform when shooting full-powered loads. It wasn’t unshootable, it just required too much concentration to shoot as it was so violent. My .500 Smith BFR is much easier to shoot than the .50 Alaskan was. That big case held a lot of powder. Also, the barrel length was 7-inches and the revolver’s weight was less than 4-lbs. And here it is:

Love it. What steel? What are the specs on the wildcat? It's a nickel reduced alloy steel with tensile strength > 290.000 psi (PH 17-4 ~ 170.000 psi) Wildcat specs: customized .50 Alaskan brass, now rimless and belted, straight necked for .500 caliber bullets with up to 700-800gn weight.

That big revolver definitely recoils fast and hard!
That video - that was with the 500 S&W cylinder? What was the bullet/load/velocity?

Yes, it was the .500 S&W Magnum cylinder. Because the wildcat cylinder wasn't done to that date.
Bullet: 700 grain Load: TOP SECRET Velocity: approx. 1600 fps

1600fps with the 700gr bullet is fast. Do you have pressure data for that load?
