I thought i posted, this a few hours ago, But it,s gone now ! Took my old plain jane ,257 Robert,s with me to what i call my mountain.
I went to shoot revolvers mostly, but wanted to try a load i put together, Glad i did. The load, a 110 grain Hornady ELD X bullet over 43.3 grains of IMR 4350. Using my back pack as a rest on the hood of my old Jeep , the 1st 3 shots were at .345 at 100 yards. I fired 3 more , knew i pulled one, so i fired a 4th. .815. A previous owner cut the barrel to 21" added a half inch pad, and refinished the stock. She aint pretty , but man does she shoot. I new she was accurate, but she had extraction problems. I had Gertain rifles do a sako extractor. She just might go mule deer hunting this year ! Any of you guys taken game with the ELD X bullet from Hornady ? ...tj

I haven't personally used them but my buddy did in Africa on a Sable,Duiker ,and a couple more animals in a 280 Ackley Imp 160 gr bullets. No pass thru on Sable at under 100 yds only found pieces of bullet or Duiker at 20 yds shot in chest facing him. Duiker are small dog sized. Recovered all animals but no bullets . I had told him before he left when I sighted the gun in for him, that was not the bullet I would recommend he use but he is hard headed sometimes. When he talked to the Hornady rep on his return, he was told they were not made for close shots. How many of us carry two loads one for close range one for long? Just tell the game wait right there, I need to change my load to a [short, long] range bullet? He did kill all his animals but was not happy with bullet performance.

Sorry, I was always a Nosler man until I started working at Barnes Bullets. Now, I LOVE the 100 TTSX and Hybrid 100 (ok, ok, ok in Nosler cases).
