Can a Bisley grip frame, hammer, and trigger be fitted to a BFR? If not, does anyone have a suggestion for Doing something similar? Thanks for your time. Bill

It depends. Earlier BFRs would readily accept Bisley parts, while newer productions BFRs will not without a lot of metalsmithing. It seems most of the talented revolver 'smiths would rather not tackle the job on a newer BFR but it can be done if you have the bucks.

I feel your pain, contact Jack Huntington. That is if your looking to just modify the grip to something more usable

I bought a JT 475 L BFR that came with a second Huntington modified grip frame with black micarta grips. He welds a hunk of steel to the base to extend it to about Bisley length then recontours the rest to get close. It is somewhere between a Bisley and a FA it seems though extremely fat and clubby with almost square contours rather than the round I like. The tip of my trigger finger just reaches the trigger and I have pretty large hands. I have the gun at Alan Harton's for some work and he will complete the reshaping of the grip frame and grips to get as close as he can to a Bisley with his interpretation of a proper Bisley grip. I may see it when I am home in March and I will post pictures.

Thanks for the replies. How does one tell an "earlier" from a "late" BFR? Jack Huntington emailed. Boxhead, I'll look forward to those pictures.

Easiest way is to look at the ser# if it starts with JT its the newer frame, if the ser# starts with DM then you have one of the old ones and everything Ruger will work.

COR told me to call because Jack doesnt spend time on the computer. He answered the phone first time and was very nice to talk to.
