I am on the hunt for my next handgun. I cannot come up with anything in my searches remotely close to what I am looking for.
Criteria are "loosely" as follows.
1. Stainless preferred, not required. 2. Ruger Blackhawk Bisley or Super Blackhawk grip frame. 3. 45 Colt / ACP convertible (Fairly firm here). 4. Barrel length between 4.5 and 6 inches. (Again, fairly firm here).
I am reasonably sure I am not the only dreamer looking for this type of firearm, but I seem to be overlooking what I am wanting. If any of you know a link or a source for what I am asking, please let me know. Thank you.

There is a consecutive numbered on GB 5.5". There are also some with 3 3/4" barrels.

Ruger made a run of 5.5 inch stainless bisley 45 colt/acp convertibles on the full size frames several years back. One of my most used guns. Keep looking, one will show up eventually.

Like the Ruger 0472? I was between that and the .44 special Bisley. They go in and out of stock quickly.

Yes, I have that 45 convertible bisley blackhawk in stainless with the 5 1/2" barrel, in your description, this is the gun your looking for, they've been out of production for awhile, and can be hard to find. I do se them used occasionally, and maybe grab a gun had a new one at one time. They are great shooters, mine needed a new trigger return spring and a few shims to get it where I like, but I love it, and the acp cylinder is a lot of fun. I do see them in the blued blackhawk version currently on gunbroker, you could always have Ronnie make you a grip frame of any configuration you want, and get an aftermarket hammer and trigger kit if needed, just depends on how much you want to spend, of course you don't have to get it all at once. By the way that bisley 45 convertible was my first single action.

As pleadthe2nd has mentioned,, Ruger made a gun that fits your criteria. It's often called the "Williams Exclusive." A stainless, convertible 45 cal, 5-1/2" bbl, with a Bisley g/f. And, there was a batch of them shipped later as "overruns." I also have one. You'll have to do some looking,, but they can be found. I see them pop up occasionally. (Because if I didn't already have one,, I'd buy one!)

Thanks guys. I was pouring over Lipseys and other such distributors looking for a model in current production to no avail. Seems since some of yall have one like I am wanting I am not the only dreamer. I wonder if I ought not just buy a "donor" and just send it to be built into what I want. Then I get a gun I want with the custom touch of a master gunsmith. I wonder how long Gary Reeder is backed up.... Or is there another smith without such a large backlog? I understand Gary wouldn't be so backed up if his work wasn't worth it. I recently shot RJM's Reeder 41, and let me tell you, I was in HEAT over that revolver! I told RJM if or when he was tired of it there is a blank check ready to send. Yes, I liked it that much!

I bought the Stainless Bisley in 45 Colt/ACP several years ago, and while I really like it, it is my second favorite gun- the Stainless Bisley in 41 Magnum is my favorite, but only because I have a Marlin 1894FG, and a Blackhawk Hunter in 41 Magnum also. Maybe I just need to get a lever gun in 45 Colt so I can make a “fair” comparison!

I have one of those 5 1/2” stainless Bisley 45 convertibles. It’s a really nice gun. Right now mine is off at the gunsmith awaiting a barrel chop to 4 5/8”, an action job, new black micarta stocks, and a new cylinder pin. Not because it actually needed any of those things, but you know how it is sometimes with guns. Can’t just leave them alone.
Anyway, it’s a great choice for a revolver.

The first thing I thought of was the 5241. Flattop 5.5 inch stainless 45 colt/45 ACP. It has the wrong grip frame but that can be remedied. The problem is it looks like they’re out of stock everywhere.

I did order one of the 3.75 inch barreled convertables. I am going to PM Fermin to see what he thinks about taking a look at it. Honestly wasn't wild about the 3.75 inch barrel, but does it REALLY make that much difference that the barrel is slightly shorter than what I want? Not if it shoots straight.

I bought a new Gary Reeder Revolver in 44 Mag about a year ago . It was a gun build for a customer and he did not pay for it . The Ruger came to me with five spent cases in it I had never seen that before . All five spent rounds were stuck and had to be hammered out . I loaded the cylinder with five new rounds 240gr.and shot all five . All five stuck in the Cylinder and was very hard to remove . The cylinder was tapered and a bunch bigger in the front in all five . I called Gary and he was unhappy and did not like talking to me . Bottom line he made a new cylinder and fit it so it came back fine . As the revolver was new I did not feel good about the Ruger and sold it ASAP .

I am glad it worked out for you. I wish I would have known you back then. I sure like Rugers!!!
