A couple of years ago I had a 629-2 Mountain Gun rebuilt for my grandson. Karl Sokol so graciously fit the Mtn Gun into his schedule. I posted pics of grandson with his gift 44 in hand. Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking my grandson to a friends backyard range and spending some time teaching him some lessons with a Model 10-10. In true cop fashion all DA work.

It appears that he listens and takes instruction very well. And had a good teacher!

What I wouldn't give for a grandson. Not going to happen.

That is investing your time wisely, both you and your grandson. I wish I could speak with my Grandpa, I was blessed that we were running buddies for many years. He was my role model.

These are memories and skills that will serve your grandson well. My happiest memories of my grandfather are when we walked the New Hampshire woods with a couple of .22 rifles and just had fun. I still have the one he used to let me carry way back.

Thanks for the nice replies! Didn't get to see much of this kid when he was growing up, but now as an adult he has come to me for all things related to gunpowder. He is moving to a medium sized city for schooling and it has serious crime problems. It will be he and his young bride so the Model 10-10 is going with him along with ample supplies and some carefully weighed instruction. The 629-2 resides in my safe for the moment, until his fishing fever takes over again. In the meantime I am playing with this:

A 10-10 is a fine revolver. It has the radiused stud package and spring loaded hammer nose, both worthy upgrades in the time when S&W wasn’t cheapening anything. It also has the plunger style yoke screw which I like but some others like the fitted screw better.
I would like to find a nice 10-10 some day but there aren’t many around. For one year in 97 they were all round butts, that’s what I want

Matt 56 you know your Model 10s very well. This one is a square butt and it is on extended loan to grandson. Advised him if he got a streak of new gun fever the 10-10 comes back to me.
