I got a pretty good deal on this Remington XP in 260 plus a Burris 10x.. This will be the 2nd single shot I`ve bought. The 1st was a 6.5JDJ that proved accurate with the right bullet and powder. I have a Remington custom shop model 7 rifle with Mannlicher stock in 260 that I bought when they first came out cause there so good looking. Anyway, I have a number of different factory loads and will see just how good they can be..

I've been wanting to find one of those in that exact caliber since I have a 260 in a 700 mountain rifle that I love.
Good luck with it!

Nice! I've been looking at the same gun, assuming that's the XP-100R repeater? Should be a nice round for that barrel length and a good deer getter with 120 grain ballistic tips.

James, Nice XP and a very good cartridge for deer-sized critters -- including hogs. I've taken a fair number of animals with Nosler's 120 gr. BT. Have shot the 260 in Encores, MOA Maximum, and currently an H-S Precision. Karen kills deer with her Encore every year. I think you will enjoy it. Good luck

I’ve had two, a 7-08 and a 6mm BR Remington, each a center-grip. Shot the 6mm BR for 80x80 in the Internationals. Jim Stekl----Bench Rest Hall of Fame and architect of the BR cartridges for Remington----was on hand andmay have been watching through a Burris spotting scope. One particular ram took forever to fall----slow motion in real time. Don’t remember, I may have used Nosler 100 grain Partitions on the rams, Sierras elsewhere. Bo-Mar rear sight with Lansing Shooting Supply 4-D Glode front with adjustable-width blade. Both XP's with CENTER-GRIP stocks, much preferred for CREEDMOOR. George Petersen ( Western Gunstock, Valencia, California), made one of his fine walnut Petersen Thumbhole center-grip stocks for the 6mm BR, to shoot left-hand, switching to south paw for all categories in that match, including Standing; to give my right elbow a break. Your REAR-GRIP looks to be an H-S Precision Fiberthane, with aluminum bedding block. Believe it was Jim Carmichael twisted Remington’s arm to standardize the .260. For hunting, nearly always, a single shot pistol is fired from artificial rest. Whereas, in silhouette, to support pistol on anything except anatomy is to use an “artificial rest,” strictly verboten. The rear grip moves AXIS of RECOIL rearward and pushes muzzle blast farther from face. Prone provides the shortest eye relief of all positions, sitting & kneeling not far behind. In Unlimited category silhouette, the rear grip was popular with competitors shooting DEAD FROG position. Mechanically, the rear-grip allows standard rifle trigger assembly----no linkage. The center-grip requires a trigger bar, or link between trigger and sear assembly. The rear-grip allows for magazine feed, redundant on a pistol chambered for rifle cartridges. Reckon your new six-and-a-half will be a shooter. Many rifle bullets configured for hunting exhibit superior accuracy in single shot pistols. David Bradshaw

I have always preferred XP center grip single-shots over rear grip repeaters, but I'm glad to see that you got an XP (Mdl. 7), James. It will be another dimension for you.
