A gorgeous reminder of how you got deeply into debt in the first place.. LOL - back in the day, yes. Haven't had debt beyond a house payment in years. Before Dave Ramsey, there was Larry Burkett and we had paid-for cars and no balance credit cards after that. We want to pay our house off early to help our retirement goals. We didn't save nearly enough up till now and it is crunch time. When I bid on it, I figured I could make a couple bucks on it and send it down the line. But, like I said, I miscalculated the premium, which wasn't a small amount of money. We shall see how it goes. I'm contemplating selling something else (a lot of something elses), putting the gun on Gunbroker and swinging for the fence, taking my lumps, etc. It is awfully tempting to shoot it, though.

Steve,, you have a very nice gun,, and it'd be hard to part with it after winning the bid. Paying off the house is very important as well,, but chances like this are rare,, & God had a hand in you owning it! Enjoy it my friend!

To my mind, it's nothing more than a fancy. Movie phantasy six gun that you don't even dare Cock, let alone Shhot, for fear of lowering its market value. It is your master and you have become it's slave. (What would Dave do... )

BEAUTIFUL revolver! I can understand your temptation to shoot it. Dave Ramsey graduate here too, and we paid our house off exactly one year ago, over 15 years early. That sure did free up a bunch of money to spend on guns. Cholla

Cubrock, Surely not telling you anything about buyer's remorse. Been there, more than once, unloaded on GunBroker, "taking my lumps" as you said. Another approach for your consideration: It's a beautiful (and possibly, eventually, historic) pair. So alternatively, keep them awhile, well-protected and stored. Doubt they'll ever lose value. They are super special in their own right and a classic western, Turnbull's name and the sorry history of USFA will prevent that. Buyer's remorse passes with tincture of time. Enjoy examining them from time to time, and just knowing they're there. Once past initial regret, time passes quickly, and eventually, they could be worth much more. Then reassess: sell, or keep and enjoy.
Please excuse this crazy post. Just identifying with your situation.

I do what Ramar suggested all the time. Find a very special piece, buy it and enjoy the privilege of being it’s caretaker for a few years then pass it on. Brass bisley old model flat top custom 44 Special conversions, one of a kind TLA guns, matched pair of USFA Double Eagles, the list goes on. I enjoyed them all then that inner voice told me time to share them with others, not hold them so tightly I left my finger impressions on them. A couple pictures I’ve kept have been mailing the last college tuition payment for our youngest son off and making our final house payment and handing it to the bank manager. That feeling and inner peace is just as freeing.

Thanks for the post, I went back and enjoyed watching the movie again! I'm going to show it to my boys, along with the original. Same story, but really two different movies. Both great.
