there were some machining marks still on the gun, from the machinist work long ago, & a couple scratches from a couple years of belt use... he's going to polish it all out, & engrave about the same coverage as my 10mm GP got a couple months ago... really looking forward to this one ( where is that stupid huge grin smilie ) also sent in 6 roller buckles for gun belts... 5 stainless, & one black, to get a little embellishment Before...

Whenever I see that revolver I think of a Banty Rooster.

Thanks for the comments guys... I do consider this one all business... after a couple years of hard carrying, long days at work, sweaty summer carrying around the farm, the polished stainless finish has proven very durable... a spec or two of rust occasionally, a couple light scratches, a pretty rusty grip screw... While it’s off my belt, it’s going to get cleaned up, and some inked engraving ( not over done ) a stainless grip screw, and the front sight is getting a checkering file to it, to cut down on the polished shine of the front sight... thinking the blackened engraving on the top of the gun, will cut down on the glare as well So hoping to increase the function, as well as the look

BTW... I’m really impressed with the durability of these buffalo horn grips... I fell on this revolver twice this winter, on the ice, and it’s been rough handled many times carrying heavy equipment, and working around the farm... grips are still together... betting wood grips, stabilized or not would have been broken, with what these have been through

I had some Buff Horn grips from Letts I believe. They chipped while setting inside the safe. Found the chip laying right next to it. I know I hadn't clunked anything into them. Think it was a big swing in humidity that did it. They were nice looking... Until the chip.

ya... you would think that being checkered, they would be more susceptible to cracking... not sure the origins of these grips, I bought them used from a vender at the state SASS shoot many years ago now... so I know nothing about how they were dried or prepared, but the 1st time I fell on that side this winter, it was one of those feet up in the air waste high, & a very hard landing... I fully expected I could have damaged the gun... it did give me a good baseball sized bruise on that hip
not sure if there is a moisture issue with the chipping you experienced ( either too dry, or not dry enough??? ) but these sure have been tough & durable

Just got a call from Michael Gouse, he has my snubbie done... he polished out the couple machining marks, engraved it & inked the engraving... he's doing the belt buckles right now... couldn't talk him out of a teaser picture yet, his internet is down, & the repair guy is not considered a vital service... of course he's in an area spotty for cell service, so he uses a land line... can't wait to get that one back sounds like he's concerned about business with the lock down... with his great prices, fast turn over & nice engraving work, I highly recommend him... (406) 363- 0254 this is my Dave Clements custom he engraved... my snubbie is going to be basically the same style, but is on a high polish gun look at the 1st date on this thread... just about a month turn around... pretty much unheard of

Oh my I can't wait to see that gun, I've been looking at Michael Gouse work and thinking of what I could get done on two large frame SS Sheriffs Vaqueros. The gun you have pictured above is just a work of tasteful art for sure.
