This is intended to be an extension of the handgun blue printing thread. It may prove helpful to me and others considering a custom revolver project.
Could you all post photos of your case colored guns, identify who did the work, why you chose that individual or firm for the work, how it has held up and any lessons learned? It seems like there are several sources each with their own recipe and distinct results. And/or-if there are any links regarding this subject that a "newbie" should see before starting such a project, can you please post them? It appears that some custom gunsmiths do their own work and others send it out. In the latter case, do you specify who you want to do the work, or do you let the gunsmith choose a source they know and are comfortable using? Thank you.

Honestly, I'd look at Turnbull and Tyler Gun Works...if the above pic is what you're interested in, then Turnbull is probably your best option.

You can see some of Bobby Tyler's work on some of the blued Henry rifles that they offer - his style is altogether different than Turnbull - I like both styles fwiw .

Top is carried hard, put up wet, factory Ruger chemical case colored 45. About 10 years of wear and tear and 1,000+ rounds. Bottom is Harton in 32 H&R. This was 2011 and “his guy” did his cased coloring. I believe John Powers was “his guy” at that time. The color is much more subdued compared with Turnbull. More silvers and grays, to me more like the old Colts. It is my favorite. Tim

Does anyone do case coloring like the above? You're going to need to go to Turnbull for something like that.

IMHO Turnbull’ are the prettiest by a hundred miles. It seems to me that Turnbull learned to replicate Winchester’s lovely colors and applies them to all of their work that I’ve seen. FOR ME, if I’m going to spend extra dough on CCH it better not look like some one took a Smokey cutting torch and ran it back and forth across the metal, or marked it up with light and dark grey crayons. I wonder if some of the folks that do CCH these days are color blind. BTW, I’ve seen some original pre-war colts that were very colorful.

This one is from Bobby Tyler... John Gallagher... And of course, Turnbull... This is a Caesar Guerini - I'm not sure who does their CCH, but it looks great...
