450 Marlin built from guide gun. Multiple sighting options let it shoot 540grs in an alder thicket with peep sight, use a scope with a general purpose load or switch to a higher magnification scope for shots out to 400 yards with a spire point shot single shot.

Does that peep mount to the rear base ,or is it made on there? I like that, sweet setup!

That is a sweet set up. I’m curious also, would like to set my 45-70 up that way.

Very nice, have that marlin in 45-70 , have scope setups similar, but have had to remove the rear peep sight when using the scopes, very interested in the rear sight like the other posts

That pop up peep is a Brockman. I have his adjustable front as well. There is enough adjustment to go from 250gr to 600gr bullets. As soon as I flip the levers and pull the scope the peep jumps up. Skinner has a fairly new set up that also allows quick detach-ability with a peep.

You'd get laughed off a lot of forums for such an assertion, but I think your thinking is spot on - practical, sensible and realistic. Love the concept, innovation, ingenuity, creativity and sense of REALITY. I was fascinated with sub-half-MOA, sporter-weight bolt-actions for a long time, but in reality, a lever is really the most practical hunting tool I could make good use of short of taking an expensive guided trip I'll never be able to afford.
Now, if you are attacked by a monolithic horde of apocalypse zombies while squirrel-hunting one day, you'll feel mighty dumb for not having the capability to slap another 30 round mag in the bottom of that puppy, but hey, we don't last forever anyway, do we?

My perfect rifle? Hmmmm, depends on the situation! For large game, I have a 50-70 that is phenomenal out to 150 yards or so. Beyond that, a 405 WCF fits the bill.
For small game, a 30 US, ( 30-40 Krag) fits the bill. For vermin, a 22 Hornet. There is nothing on this continent that those three can not handle.

I like that a lot. Very cool! How does it shoot with those spire points? Also nice buck!
