Correct. A hickory started growing and a live oak grew AROUND it. My slabs are in the kiln, can't wait to see those and HOPE they stay together after drying.

That is extremely unique ! I hope when they come out of the kiln they are still together. I've seen trees grow half to 3/4 way around another . but never fully sealed like that. Very impressive !!

I am making the lamp to go over our dining room table. The table is 8' x 4' x 2" thick, hopefully those first slabs. Many years ago I purchased an old hand made wrought iron pot rack at a flea market and paid forty dollars for it. It was Sunday and the guy was tired of loading it. Lots of hooks inside and outside. I thought if I ever build a house it'll go in the kitchen. NO was her response. I ran it over with the tractor a couple of years ago and mangled it good. It's six feet down the side, two feet in width. Mangled it GOOD. My hot rod builder buddy has a steel layout table. I took it by there and dumped it in the back pasture and told him I needed to come and tweak it, someday. A few days later he called and said "Come by and see my new project". He'd straightened it. It took a lot of torch gas and elbow grease. I ground off the inside hooks. I took it to a local sandblaster, Ace rattle can after that for primer. Rustoleum hammered copper will be the final finish. Fourteen ceramic light sockets from Amazon, ring terminals and heat shrink from Skycraft (That's a picture thread someday), antique looking wire from Amazon and away we go. Edison LED bulbs of somekind will light it, on a dimmer. The hanging chain came from a blacksmith on E-bay, paid more for the chain than the pot rack. Here it is on horses.

Table done. 4' x 8' x 2". The pieces that were half hickory for the table separated too bad in the kiln . The piece for the bench survived. will post when done. It's in the back on the right.
