My RMR base came yesterday for the shorter FA 41 so I took a few minutes to install it then the RMR red dot I received in a trade with Mark Hampton. This completes the 41 caliber hunting gun family and these are the only revolvers in the safe with optics. The 5 1/2" FA wears the RMR and the bisley hammer, the 10" octagon FA wears a 2.5 x 8 Leupold in a Lovell mount, the 7 1/2" octagon 414 wears a 4x Leupold in a Lovell mount and the bottom gun was Roy Fishpaws deer hunting revolver that is an old model 41 that came with the transfer bar. I sent it and a Clements bisley spurred hammer to Ben Forkin and he did the parts swap and smoothed things up then sent it back. Roy used the Tasco tube sight on this gun. I have to admit, a red dot sight takes a little getting used to for this old man. Hopefully by next year they will all be dialed in and then it will be a matter of deciding which to care on which hunt. Not the best of pictures but the standard moss patch backdrop is soaking wet right now!

Good looking 'family'! I started using 'red dots' on my hunting revolvers 3 or 4 years ago. Once you practice, it becomes natural.

Nice batch of 41's there! All of my 41's are either Ruger or T/C.
Red dots are quite nice for older eyes,, and as you mentioned,, take a little getting used to. I always stress to folks; "Don't worry about centering the dot in the viewfinder. When the dot is on the target squeeze the trigger. They are not like a scope in that regard. And due to different dot sizes,, add in distance,, and tiny tack driving groups may not be as good due to the loss of the aiming point. (Think; 100 yds or more here.) A 3 MOA dot is a 3" circle. Harder to get them all to settle in as tight as with a scope. BUT,, 3" groups at 100 yds is quite good for many folks! Ot does take practice!
