Ok: Bowen rear and Ruger MKIII front. I think I may have to shim the front sight or build a base to bring it up a ways... but it looks better to me than the plastic.

Yep. The new MKIII sight is very narrow and attaches with one screw, just like the BFR. A single six front sight will work as well. I was surprised at how well it fit my self. I think I need to take the rear sight off and refit it: I seem to remember something about filing down the boss, that steel donut under the rear sight. Seems the rear is higher than it should be to me, as its currently bottomed out. If anyone remembers who posted the stuff about fitting the Bowen Target rear?

Did your BFR really come with a plastic front sight?

It came with 2 plastic front sights... and it looks to me like the body of the rear sight might've been plastic too. It shouldn't bother me, I guess, but it does.

Interesting. I did not realize they were doing that. Mine came with aluminum sights, front and rear.

I went back and looked at 'em again... I might be wrong. They sure feel and look like plastic to me: they're a lot lighter than the ruger single six sight, which I figured for aluminum, but it might just be that they're aluminum and thick powder coated. Then again, every manufacturer is cutting every corner they can...

Ok... the MkIII front sight will HAVE to be built up, or just ignored all together. Hits 6 inches high at 25 yards on the lowest setting. It never ends... on the other hand I cut down a front sight for the NEF 500 and its spot on.
