Looking at another rifle ,that I really don't need. Sound familiar ? Anyway its seems to be a Krico centerfire 243 although it is only marked Tradewinds buy the importer. This one has been nicely re-stocked in what looks to be a Harry Lawson thumbhole which is kinda a love it or leave it,,, but I don't mind them. Price is reasonable (I think) at probably $350ish ,but 243 is a mild need for me. Probably a mid-60s gun so parts (and mags)are probably unobtainum or very pricy. So ,,,,,, anyone have any good or bad memories or simple opinions on these rifles ?

The ones from the 80’s carried a good reputation for accuracy and fit/finish, can’t speak to earlier ones.

Krico (Kriegescorte) built good rifles till the early seventies. Trapr has it right, they had a good reputation. But nowadays they are kind of a niche product on the market for used rifles. I would recommend them. A nice little .22 Stutzen with beautiful wood is part of my battery. Would never part with it!

Sorry, read Traprs post wrong. He speaks of the eighties. Those rifles built before the 80s have a good reputation too. Lots of hand fitting.

Krico goes back till 1883. After WWII they produced hunting rifles till about 1986, than they became part of RWS, I think . Later, at about 1996 they became part of Kongsberg.

Excellent rifles, very similar to Anschutz. I have a few in 222 and 222 Rem mag and the actions are made well. I believe DeHaas has a write up on them in the gun digest book ‘bolt action rifles’

I also have the stutzen .22 and feel it compares to the Annie’s. For the centerfires my only experience was with one of the 700 series rifles ( I think ) in .243 a friend dropped off yrs ago with ammo and an extra scope. That was in the spring and he said he’d need it by hunting season, we shot it a lot that summer and did end up changing the scope out. It was a very smooth action with great trigger, shot well with all of my hand loads. Although a pretty limited experience, I think there keepers, and a bargain at that price. Hope you like it.

Need? If there's no need, there's always the option to strongly focus on "WANT"...
