Shooter left a bunch of 350 Legend brass on the floor yesterday. Crimped primers! We see this in mil spec cartridges intended for full auto fire. Must have been some primer backing out issues during development.

Maybe because the .350 legend can be used in an AR-15 with only a barrel swap?

I sure don't know... Sure mucks up my reloading process.. Did I say that I hate swaging primer pockets?

Must have been some primer backing out issues during development. ***** Stan.... rather crude looking case rim and head stamp. Perhaps it’s just the lighting, but I don’t think so. And, yes, why the primer crimp? Was it because of setback in testing? Which sound odd, unless there was residual pressure as the bolt unlocked. Or, primers no snug in pocket? Or, prospecting for a military contract, or faux military interest? Time to call Inspector Clouseau or Charely Chan.... David Bradshaw

I think I'll get a 350 Legend. Right after I get a set of tits for my bull.

Looking at new boxes of 350 Legend cartridges on the shelf. See 180 and 170 grain cartridges with crimped primers. 140 grain cartridges did not have crimped primers.

dandtcustomgunworks.websitetoolbox.com/post/350-legend-10005175I was kinda hot to get an upper...til I sorted through this. Apparently your "storebought" jacketed bullets need to be .355 or *sized* to that diameter. Winchester doesn't use 357 or 358 bullets in their new offering... The brass is not just 5.56 brass either...apparently thicker at the case throat. They must be trying to thwart the handloader...? This is only thing I've read concerning this. Any other thoughts/info??

Hmm, I've had no problems in my 357 Max., but that is in my DW. It may be something in the AR rimless configuration. Bill

Crimped in primers ? Cripes. Have 4 boxes of a variety of factory ammo, will have to eye ball carefully I guess. Have 250 Starline cases here along with dies and H110, Lil'Gun and small rifle primers. Will be able to get along with out any of the crimped brass, if I find. Thanks for the heads up.

I have an AR kit still in the box and two, 200 round cases of Winchester ammo. That is as far as I have got with it. But I am an AR junkie for hogs and have most calibers ever offered in AR rifles to include most of the SOCOM calibers. Looking at my Winchester ammo, it does appear to have a crimped primer pocket. This ammo is almost 2 years old so I dont know if this was an early run and they did it or if they are sticking with the crimp in primers still.
I view it as a 357 Max in a rifle and want it for using powder coated lead bullets at medium velocity. I have worked out my 338 Specter and my 375 SOCOM for the same thing. Fairly cheap and easy to reload, just dont lost the brass! THAT is the expensive part. My 450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM and 50 Beowulfs are just collecting dust but I dont sell any firearms so dust they will collect till I get that urge again.

I believe @cwlongshot may be messing with one fairly recently(?)
I can't say f sure because the threads barely register, not being an AR guy.
Don't hate 'em by any means, especially since a lot of the little cartridges shoe-horned into them would also be a dandy in a CZ 527.
I keep thinking about that - a 357 Max ballistic clone in a 5.5# bolt-action with a 16.6" barrel and five-round magazine.....
For any other rifle I'd own or use for something like that, my Max in a Contender Carbine is the berries. I do hope CZ does NOT chamber the 527 in the 350 because I am out of stuff to trade or sell to pay for one.
