Recently I purchased a used Savage FVSR short bull barreled 22LR with picatinny rail, bolt action with accutrigger. Put an old Bushnell rifle scope on it and it shoots very tight groups. But that big scope does not fit well with the idea of the rifle. The scope is out of dimension to the rifle and makes it combursome to pack and to shoot.
I'm not a "long range" 22 rimfire shooter as some are today. My longest shot would be a hundred yard and 90% of my shooting would be 50 yards and under. Red Dot or reflex sights seem to hold some promise for a small carbine type rimfire. Red Dots are new territory for me and look for those who have used red dots on rimfires and how do you like them? And what would you recommend?
This gun is used for plinking and squirrel eradication. Carried in a Razr or a truck and packed in the woods.
Thanks for your input.

FWIW we run a couple of SIG red dots on the range. Had one fail a while back. Store front guys talked about how good SIG was about standing behind their products and that they would quickly replace it. I've got one on an AR that runs and runs...

I would go to a store hold it up and put on a can 50yrds away.moa dot size is the first option. Then stand with you back to sun or a flash light see if you can still see the dot as a second test.then shop brand , warranty most don't so do.
