I have that 10 mm Rimmed coming from Dave Clements this week... the gun would be carried as a self defence gun... looking at bullets that could crimp, since it is a rimmed cartridge... looking at these & the copper Phillips Screwdriver bullets... found a cast bullet with a crimp grove for 401 Corbon, but it has a smaller meplat than I like, & since it's a self defence gun a wide flat nose cast might be nice, but not looking for a nearly pointed cast bullet... www.midwayusa.com/product/101829978?pid=874150www.midwayusa.com/product/1020626893?pid=572351

I like the claims made by Lehigh but there is insufficient real world feedback on their effectiveness to stake my life on them. My preference in jacketed bullets for SD (not hunting) are HST's. They get uniformly good reports from LE, no pun intended. They are also relatively inexpensive which promotes lots of experimentation with various loads to find a combination of power, accuracy and low flash in your carry weapon. They are NOT bonded. They are not offered as reloading components but can be found here: www.rmrbullets.com/shop/bullets/pistol/40-10mm/40-10mm-180165155-gr-mixed-hst-hp-pulled/#reviews

I have a few thousand pulled HSTs from RMR and while they do have a cannelure it’s not so much for bullet crimping as it is to stop jacket separation. I’m not sure how long your chamber is but it’s pretty far back

RMR fast shipping a heavy box of 1000 HST's in 10 mm arrived today... & yes, the canilure is pretty far back on the bullets I can see... not sure if on the heavier ones they end up more in the middle... will be something to play with anyway...

If it were me & I wanted a self defense bullet I'd either use a Speer Gold Dot or get Mountain Molds to make me a wide meplat mold with a crimp groove.

AS A SELF-DEFENSE CARTRIDGE A 10MM AT 1100-1200 FPS WOULD WORK WELL WITH JUST ABOUT ANY BULLET.

I got 250, now sold out, of their Gold Dots pulled for 357. We'll see how they shoot and perform.

Playing with my 10mm Rimmed today... guessing I know why the HST’s were pulled.... in 15 bullets (155 grain ) there was a variance of 5.5 grains between the lighter and the heavier... I’ll end up weighing them all ( which I have to do anyway, since there is an advertised 3 sizes of bullets in the bag ) but I’ll have to sort them to within 1 grain in groups to satisfy my obsession

I appreciate the info. I have to sort my "mixed" bag today and your process description gave me a kick start.
thanks for the post,

BTW... I’m able to crimp on the canilure of the 155 grain and still get the cartridge chambered, so those aught to work nice... I’ve not found one of the 180’s yet, but have plenty of room in the cylinder... shape of the bulletin, I think they’ll chamber as well
