I got to wondering today since I have a 10.5 inch max on layaway, what should I get for leather? So guys, what is your favorite style of carry and style of holster for a 10.5 inch revolver? No scope.

Barranti is always a good choice. I have several.
I was curious what everyone has found works best for long barreled revolvers as far as style of holster and method of carry.

I like my Diamond D Guides Choice Chest rig. I have then for 5 1/2” Blackhawks to 9 1/2” Super Redhawk For a 10 1/2” barrel you want to look into someone making a backpack scabbard, lol

A strong side hip holster is inconvenient for a barrel that long; I am forced to withdraw it part way, then grab it by the barrel with the weak hand to complete the draw. If you are a better contortionist or more limber than me, you may not have that problem. I find a shoulder holster or even a cross-draw to be more convenient.

I have a weak side vertical shoulder holster that I love carrying my m29, m57 and DW15 in. Though, I don't have a 10.5" gun at the moment, 8 3/8 is the longest revolver. Makes it easy to carry because it's inline with your body and easy enough to pull up and draw out.

I carry a 10 inch Model 83, FA in a Northwest Hunter from Barranti. Works well and very comfortable.

I carry FA and Ruger 10 1/2" revolvers in a Barranti High Country Companion chest holster. It is a simplified version of the NW Hunter and costs much less. Be prepared for a long wait for a Barranti holster. The Galco Kodiak and the Diamond D Guides Choice are both excellent chest holsters for big revolvers.

saw a trick shooter at the last shooters round up I was at... his fast draw rig, was open at the bottom, exposing the muzzle of his 10-12" revolver barrel, otherwise it looked like a traditional western rig... when he pulled the gun out, it was a snubbie like my regular CCW gun, the extra length of tube stayed with the holster... trick shooter I'm not a fan personally of long barreled revolvers, but I carry my 14" Contenders in a Contender labeled holster across my chest... just seems the best place to put the extra length & weight of a long barrel gun

My longest barrel revolver is a BFR 475 71/2 with a UltraDot. I hunt from a blind so I just put it in a case in my back pack. If I need to go track or help someone track I carry a smaller hand gun on my hip or in my pocket.

I have Simply Rugged Chesty Puller chest rig that I like very well. It is designed to work in conjunction with the pancake holster they make. They also sell an inexpensive adaptor that you can use with many different styles of holsters.
