I like the flared hammers. Kinda annoying that they switched away from them and now charge extra to get one.
Still like the BFRs...

Supposedly Magnum Research/BFR will not sell hammers.
Had a BFR to their Custom Shop for upgrade to the Banana Bisley. They would not add a wide spur at that time.
So, did my own hammer swap...Power Custom Bisley.

That blows. What is the sense of them producing this "new" hammer if they wont sell it or install it on revolvers already built?

Was it a straight swap or was there a little massaging?

Ruger and BFR have a parts kinship, but each hammer and gun combination is different. Before doing any irreversible modifications, keep in mind that sourcing parts from BFR is not as easy as from Ruger.
On the gun pictured, a current BFR 500L, all that was required was to remove about .001 from the second tooth of the cylinder pawl to install the Power Custom Bisley "half cock" hammer and trigger.
As someone noted previously the new wide spur looks like a Ruger SBH item. On another BFR, a liberated current production SBH hammer installed and functioned with no modification.
And more to the kinship, currently operating a modified Ruger Blackhawk (again in 500L) with a BFR standard (non-banana) grip frame.
The disclaimer: I am not a gunsmith but play as one in my own world.

I just got my BFR back from MRI with a new wide spur hammer. I sent the gun back to them and they gladly installed a new hammer with action job. I like it better than the original, especially with a scope.

Thanks. I may have to find a bisley hammer and I see power sells the bisley hammer/trigger kit. I wonder if I would need the trigger too?

If you opt for the Power Custom hammer then use the Power Custom trigger as well. It is somewhat of a pain to modify a Ruger style trigger to work with the Power Custom hammer. For the BFR you will need to use the standard Power Custom trigger, not Bisley.
If using a Ruger SBH hammer, then the BFR trigger should work well.
A Bisley trigger can be fitted with a little work to the trigger opening in the grip frame and slightly trimming the end of the Bisley trigger.

I didn't have any issues with Magnum Research installing a widespur when I sent my gun back to them to have a Bisley conversion as well.
I believe my hammer cost around $75; the Bisley conversion with black micarta fitted grips was $385. I didn't have to pay the shipping, which is normally $40 because it also needed some warranty repair.

$75 for hammer. $80 for action job. Shipping was on them because they were doing some warranty work too. Front sight leaned left. Can't tolerate anything that leans left. They fixed that.

That’s a great price for an action job. How do you like it?

They did a good job. Trigger letoff is crisp and cylinder lockup is tighter. Barrel/cylinder gap closed from .005" to .003". I believe I got my money's worth.
