Although now Silcott has me wondering about a ultradot..... I’ve never had one. 🤔 This will be my first Ultradot.

J.D.Jones convinced me to try an Ultradot in 1997. At the time I was big in the TCA and had a prerelease Encore Pistol.
I immediately contacted JD to build me a 50-70 and 6.6x55 Swedish barrels for it.
He recommended an Ultradot for the 50-70 barrel as it produces tremendous torque during recoil.
The 50-70 and Ultradot are still going strong 22 years later.
I do mount them with Warne Steel Rings instead of the aluminum rings that come with them.

Why are the pros and cons to using 30mm rings for the Hunter model vs the Wigan’s base when mounting the Ultradot 30?

Why are the pros and cons to using 30mm rings for the Hunter model vs the Wigan’s base when mounting the Ultradot 30? By using the aftermarket mount, it lets you set the optics a little further to the rear of the revolver. I doesn’t feel like it’s front heavy like it will using Ruger rings. Plus the mount is cheaper than a set of 30mm Ruger rings, if that matters.

My gun is going to need a new set of grips, the factory ones are horribly fit to the grip frame.

Can you still use iron sights with the Wiegand rail attached? Or is it so high that it obstructs the view of the sights?
Just wondering if you have to detach it by the email or rings.

You have to remove the whole mount. If you use permanent loctite (green) on two screws on one side only and small screw loctite (Pink) on the other side, you should be able to remove and reinstall by using the two with the small screw loctite without losing zero.

Just picked mine up from my FFL. Rather fitting since today is 10/22…
The action feels fairly smooth, and the trigger seems pretty crisp. That is a relief. Granted I didn’t spend much time with it, but it seemed promising. We are going to need new grips for mine too. LOL

What height Ruger 30mm rings do you us for the ultradot 30? Want it to hug down on the revolver not looking like it’s on stilts.....
