I have a 25-2 that I have wanted to customize for a long time. Since I got it from the original owner with box papers tool kit screwdriver etc I bought a beater 25-2 barrel and extra cylinder assembly do the original barrel will. E removed and saved and the extra cylinder I bought just bc it was from the same donor gun and now I’m thinking 45acp/45AR in original cylinder and maybe 45 Win Mag in 2nd cylinder? Thoughts and opinions??? Will it Handle the cartridge/pressure ?? I mean same model and N frame are in 45 colt and 44 mag do why not. Definitely would be different which are things I’m into.

I definitely would not attempt this. Too much diameter and pressure IMHO...

DEFINITELY NOT! YOU WOULD BE TRYING TO PUT .44 MAGNUM-STYLE PRESSURE IN A .45 SIZED CYLINDER.

I have a Classic 25 in 45 Colt and keep loads 20,000 psi and under. Just not enough gun for hot loads.
I know others do it, but I will not...

Thanks JT, I tried Before hand finding the max pressure limits fir S&W N frames old and/or new production. I couldn’t find a clear answer on the web. I found it fir the new X frames 65k psi plus. But not for old and new N frames. Now I know original 357mag ammo was like 50k psi plus mower days bc of k frames etc it’s 35k psi SAAMI specs correct? Same with the original 44 mag 240/250gr ammo vs modern Saami specs , Is this bc if Saami lowers pressure Max’s companies can built Modern N frames cheaper now due to lower limits ? Or is it bc older N frames used different metallurgy to make them? 45 Win Mag is like 40k Cup pressure which has to be like 50k plus Psi meaning above Ruger Blackhawk stock revolver strength? I definitely don’t want an X frame anything as a handgun hunter IMO it defeats my purpose fir hunting with an enormously bulky handgun

JOHN LINEBAUGH'S RULE OF THUMB WITH A .45 COLT IN A .44 MAGNUM-SIZED SIXGUN IS 80% OF THE .44 MAGNUM PRESSURE WISE.

A guy on the Smith & Wesson form actually did this but using unique and keeping 255gr st 950-2000 FPS, but interesting enough another member pointed out that Clark rechambers m25s and 625s to 460 Rowland with max pressure if 40k PSI!!! Hmmm

Groo here I would not go above 45 Super pressures in a 45 acp S&W revolver... Nice thing is , the 45 super fits without mods.... Also 45 auto rim is loaded to the super pressure by the likes of BB, TP ,underwood, corbond etc and that will preclude getting such loads in an auto not moded for same.....

Well the gun is getting moded to what I want it’s configuration to be but 45 duper levels work 28k psi.
