I have been offered the opportunity to buy 3 Rugers. A S.S. shopkeeper bearcat 22lr, a Bisley 4 5/8” 44spl. , and a 7 1/2” S.S. Old army. He is only selling them all together. He wants $1550 for the lot, all guns are like brand new with box’s. He has probably $200 worth of supplies for the old army. Think It’s a good deal?

I'm not up on Old Army prices, but $500 per on the shopkeeper and 44 sounds fine. I've seen them in the mid-$400s up to the mid-$500s.
That said, the Bisley 4 5/8 44 special might be the best factory configuration Ruger has ever put out if you prefer the Bisley configuration.
So buy them, sell whichever you don't want and put that money towards one of Ronnie's round butt aluminum or brass bisley grip frames with grips of your choice and you'll have the PPP. My 44 special bisley is going that route.

Did I miss something? Are the custom grip frames/grips available now? Is there a website?

I really want the 44spl, but it’s not legal to hunt with in Ohio. Gotta have a 5” minimum barrel.

Forgive me but I've never understood this minimum barrel length thing on six guns. A guy wth a 6" barrel can run his loads 800 fps & be legal & his buddy can run his loads 1150 fps out of his 4" barrel & he's breaking the law. I can't wrap my little old Idaho brain around this.

Dick Now don't go trying to use facts or common sense Dick. They don't seem to mix too well with laws or the government lol.

BUY THE GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!
A fair deal,, and if your desires for any of them aren't strong,, you can sell or trade them. As noted,, the Ruger OA,, is the one making the package "sweet." With the current prices of them, as well as the accessories,, it's the tipping point gun.
Gun barrel lengths,, and various laws. I had it explained to me once by a LEO that they didn't want any "concealable" firearms to be used in hunting. They also looked at the snubby guns,, (2"-3") as very ineffective guns for hunting,, The worry was that a person would try & use a snubby 38 spl & go deer hunting. OR,,, another angle was that when they caught a person carrying a snubby,,, w/o another firearm,, then person could not "claim" to be hunting when they in fact may have been up to something else. NC USED to have some seriously stupid laws concerning handgunning & hunting. It USED to be that you could not use a handgun on Game Lands (public property) unless it had less than a 6" bbl,, while a shorter bbl was allowed on private property. We used to use our .22's for small game,, and I had a MKI Ruger bull barreled 5-1/2". Technically illegal to use for hunting. A Game Warden & I got into a discussion,, and he was trying to tell me I could use mine for hunting. When I showed him the Regulation book,, he had it "backwards", thinking I was legal to use my MKI. The discussion started over the odd way the laws were written. Game lands; Nothing over 6" while private lands, nothing under 6". When we had the book out,, and I corrected him,, he said; "Well, I'll be damned." Then he looked at me & said; "I'm the local warden here,, and I'll be the only one you see. I've seen you shooting snakes heads etc so I know what you can do with a handgun. I'll NOT write you a ticket for that 1/2" bbl length issue." Then we used to have a handgun law that stated we could not use a bottleneck cased caliber with a case OAL of less than 2". Again,, worries over ammo that was not powerful enough to hunt with. And then, it also stated; "Straightwalled cases not less than 357 Mag caliber, .38 spl excluded."
Luckily,, we got a lot of this crap repealed.
Now the current laws states; "Deer & Bear may be taken with a handgun during the established gun hunting season. There are no restrictions on barrel length or caliber." The same goes for small game.
HOWEVER,, we can not hunt turkey with a handgun.
So,, I think the past laws in many places were written by well meaning people looking at older low powered calibers, or worried about illegal CCW, or whatever. Luckily,, some folks have seen the light & repealed such draconic laws in some states. And I know that the "logic" in some states is that handguns & even rifles are TOO powerful,, so they only allow shotguns with slugs for big game,, or handguns with certain features. (Think of the potential distance a "high powered rifle bullet can travel.) I THINK Ohio has restrictions on rifles can only use calibers with straight walled cases of at least 2". I know there are some odd laws out there for sure.
Heck,, Sunday hunting is still illegal or heavily restricted in many Southern states due to the power of the churches. (Never mind the FACT that 7th Day Adventists are discriminated in this.)
So,, while there may be some restrictions on some uses of handguns in some states,, the above guns listed is a fair deal.

My state just changed our deer handgun hunting rules. Now the barrel must be 5.7”. I am still going to use my .41 mag 5 1/2” bisley. It is just ridiculous.

Dick ***** Dick.... going on four decades ago, Canadian revolver ace Bert Caron and other Canadian IHMSA silhouettes put on a demonstration for the Guarde de Chasse (game wardens) in Quebec. “Sacrament!” they exclaimed. “Most guys hunting deer and moose can’t do that with rifles!” The fish & game department approved handguns for hunting big game in Quebec for persons who could demonstrate marksmanship. And then a fly stepped on the pie. The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) refused to issues handgun permits for hunting. Yes, there is an arbitrary aspect to hunting regulations. silcott.... if 1550 skins feels like a thermite grenade against your leg, buy the guns. David Bradshaw
