Ok, I used to cast a lot of bullets. All were conventional design and either plain based or Gas Checked.
I recently purchased some PC bullets to try in my .357 Rossi. Haven't loaded any yet. So, no experience.
So, my question for those familiar with PC is, I have a mold that casts a .417" bullet. It is meant for paper patching so lacks any grooves. I'd like to try it in my .416 Ruger and wonder if PC the bullets will work. I'm thinking that the lack of grooves won't matter since I am not using lube.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a very good idea. I'm not sure you would want to try for 2400 fps with it . but who knows. I would think it would work great sort of duplicating the 450/400 velocity of 2050 fps/400 gr bullet. Or milder velocity. I know RIP has been doing something similar with the 458 Win over on Accurate Reloading.com forums. Iirc he said that each coat of shake and bake HF red adds .001" to the diameter of the boolits. He does 2 coats and has Great results. I think he is in the process of using a .461 Gibbs boolit double powder coated.

Thanks I will check that out. My intent is purely for fun shooting and piggies. 2000 fps or so is more than plenty.
