I wonder if you could use a .30 Carbine cylinder and have it bored out?

I wonder if you could use a .30 Carbine cylinder and have it bored out? Depends on which gunsmith you ask. Some say yes, some say no.

Looking at SAAMI chamber specs, the 30 Carbine chamber is already almost 50 thousandths in diameter larger than the 32-20 chamber. SAAMI

This falls in the FWIW category, I own both, a New Model .30 carbine and a Buckeye .32-20. I can drop .32-20 cases, unaltered, into the .30 carbine cylinder and the fit flush with the back of the cylinder. When the .30-20 case are loaded with .309 cast bullets seated to the COL length for the .30 carbine they will fire with no problem. (I use Starline cases)The ejected .32-20 case has formed into a rimmed .30 carbine, that is, the slight shoulder is gone. That by itself would lead me to believe you can't rechamber a .30 carbine cylinder into a proper .32-20 cylinder. However, as has been reported by several on this forum you can shoot .32-20's in a .30 carbine (bullets sized .309). If you resize the cases back to .32-20 you will be reforming the shoulder area and the brass will have a short life. You can just run your fired .32-20 brass through a .30 carbine sizer and it will work just fine as a rimmed .30 carbine. Just keep your brass segregated.

As the sheriff mention, it works in a NM but it won't work in an OM 30 carbine due the case heads being enclosed.
