Cleaning up the culls around the house, I got this little "veal" buck at 16 yards and 15 feet up fro a tree stand. He had been previously wounded by an archer and had a nasty, puss filled wound on the tip of his shoulder blade. I used my Lipsey's .44 FT and the Sheriff Jim Wilson load which is Elmer's bullet (429421 Hollowpointed with a Forster Hollow Pointer) and enough Universal Clays to hit 1,000 fps plus. Sort of an Improved Skeeter or +P Skelton Load.

Congratulations, they are nice guns. Did your cast HP exit, what was the damage? Nothing is more fun than pistol whipping a deer with a sixgun.

The bullet did exit after passing through the heart, and I recovered it from about six inches of clay behind the deer. My alloy (wheelweights) was too hard for any real expansion which isn't really neccessary anyway. However, I have found that hollowpointing with the Forster tool improves accuracy slightly. I plan to post a photo of the recovered bullet on the reloading forum ASAP.
