I swear this gun is about perfect. I'm a fan of the S&W barrels, fluted shields, checkered this and that and other touches that make a gun a special but as I get older and have owned literally countless custom single actions I swear this one really speaks to me. That Express front sight Bowen does, to me is perfect. I like it even better than the Stroh front which is revered around here (including me). If it only didn't have 6 holes in the barrel. It only needs two.... Here: www.gunbroker.com/item/812295050

Good looking gun.
As to having too many holes, just take a big dollop of JB Weld and smear it over them. Fix it right up! ;-)

I knew there was something about that revolver....
Full length ejector rod and housing.
I'm queer for that every time...

I looked at that gun yesterday and thought it would be perfect to rebarrel to an ovate barrel and change cylinders to a 5 sot 45 but then I decided if I was going to do that I would prefer to start on a bisley base gun rather than a blackhawk converted to a bisley just for the sake of the transition at the top of the grip frame.

All I know for sure is that the reserve is higher than $1500.

I had the same thought about and ovate barrel. That front sight base looks great, but the overall front sight is like an inch tall and looks like a rhinoceros of a barrel. An ovate barrel would raise the sight base and allow a shorter blade which IMO would look cleaner. An ovate barrel with a round rather than flattop would preserve the sculpted lines of that sight base a bit better. Agree with the bisley transition also. This gun ins't wrong, but it could be more right. I wish I could try a ported gun in each caliber to see if and where it was worthwhile. The blast of a Linebaugh isn't that bad, but the recoil can be. Maybe this is a reasonable compromise for this round?

I have often wondered about the effect of porting on the torque along with the recoil in the big boys.

I wish sellers would post their reserve, otherwise it can be a pointless exercise.

I wish sellers would post their reserve, otherwise it can be a pointless exercise. I'm wondering if people even understand the "make an offer" option on GB. I have only had a few ridiculously low offfers on my Bowen .41. Seems somebody would at least come in with a 75% offer..... In fact, I'm CONFIDENT they don't understand it....

Are you saying a 75% offer would cause you to think about it?

Are you saying a 75% offer would cause you to think about it? I think about a lot when I want something else..... Best fly rod I ever had was the next one. Not quite the same with guns but......
