My 1956 44 magnum has a cracked front sight base. I would like To have it replaced and have gun inspected.Any recommendations For a Smith & Wesson specialist. ***** Three items count BIG TIME when seeking guidance1) Identification of firearm or part. 2) Clear description of problem. 2) Clear photos. A majority of parts in classic S&W revolvers are drop forged. This includes the barrel forging with integral ramp, and barrels which take a separate forged sight. Sounds as though your sight base ia separate. I’ve never heard of a cracked S&W sight base. All the more reason to get a look at it. Jack Huntington is a tenured hand with Smith & Wesson sixgun. Perhaps he has an answer or fix. David Bradshaw
