Can someone tell me the difference between the hammer strut on a pre-lock single action Ruger's and the gun with the lock?

The "no lock" style is longer. I had to disassemble one to see what was going on.... The lock style mainspring is considerably "weaker" and that is not something I want in my revolvers. JMHO, Carl

Thanks Carl, are you using the stronger hammer spring on your lock guns? I only have one "lock" style shooter and yes, I installed a completely different grip frame with the "lock-less" style of mainspring/hammer strut assembly. Carl
