Absolutely, I have Reeder Trail Guns in 40 S&W and 10mm. Also, Gary is building me a 5-Shot 38-40 this very moment.
Will pick up my Lipsey's Blackhawk 10mm-40 Tuesday.

Your pictures and guns look awesome... Yep... I've never jumped into the 41's yet... But, while it took 3-4 times back to S&W to get my 610 "right" before I could perform the 10 mm Magnum chamber stretch, it seemed they futzed with the trigger every time it went back ( not the problem... Gun had excessive head space ), now it's one of my nicest shooting revolvers... And my 38-40 / 10 mm Buckeye, has 2 custom cylinders that are getting the calibers engraved on them right now... One in 10 mm Magnum, and one in 401 Powermag... I have 500 custom 401 Powermag cases made... Thinking that may become my new favorite, in the 401 caliber BTW... My buddy that I bought the Buckeye from, just found 200 new unfired 38-40 cases, he gave me, that he said he intended to give me, when I bought the gun... So I have a little more playing to do with that one... A new Lee factory crimp die for 38-40 just got here last week

Great pictures, like them all, but the Taylors 4 3/4”, 38-40 is my pick. Very nice little collection of .401” bores.

Great looking guns. Is any 401 collection really complete though without a Powermag?

Where did you get the 401 brass made? I bought a 2nd 10mm buckeye cylinder on the ruger forum last fall. Intended to go with the 10mm mag. Now with the Reeder gun I’m leaning more towards the Powermag. Just purchased some 41 special brass on the ruger forum just so I can try and make a rimmed version for the Reeder 10mm gun. Plan on turning it down a little and trimming them to 10mm length. Who reamed reamed your buckeye cylinder to 401? Forgot the 10mm contenders and 610 S&w, but I’ll add the 401’s here.

I used 41 Magnum cases... Also have a stainless GP-100 at Dave Clements right now, getting made into a 10mm rimmed... Shortening the barrel to 3", & flat siding it... It'll get a Ruger compact grip I bought, along with some spalted maple grip inserts Zane made for me
I take a couple .001s off the web, in a lathe and swage the 41 cases down, then back to the lathe to knurl, then flatten the knurl to remove the factory headstamps... Got 500 of the 401 Powermag cases done, and about half of the 10 mm Rimmed... Nice of Starline to make both 41's

I use a variation of Lee's method to make my 401 case. I use new Starline 41 mag brass and had a 7/8-14 bolt reamed to .426. I faced off a shell holder and run the cases into the bolt until the rim meets the bottom of the bolt. Then tap them out with a piece of 5/16 drill rod. I lube the cases with Hornady Unique lube and they size easily and come out easily. I didn't have to reduce the rim diameter for mine as it receives the Starline 41 rim without turning them down.
I also shopped pretty hard for a couple years on several shooting forum classifieds and the auction sites. I managed to come up with 700 rounds of brass. Some I got a great deal on and some I paid too much. I don't make 401 brass now as I have a couple hundred I formed and all the factory 401.

It is too bad Colt didn't chamber the Trooper and Python in .401.... Guess they had their own version but never brought it to market.
There seems to be enough interest in .401 that Starline should make some brass just like they did with the .41 Special...a 10mm AR would also be great for the Ruger revolvers....

I’ve tried a few times to talk them into a run of 401 Powermag to no avail.

I just bit the bullet... So to speak, and made myself 500 cases I had every intention of making 500 myself and bought 500 rounds of 41 mag Starlin for that purpose. After I had done a 150 I found a deal on 300 factory brass. Soon after that, I picked up a couple hundred rounds of handloads which I pulled all the bullet from and the rest I found 50 at a time. I should be in good shape on 401 brass for a while.

I loved my 38-40, then I started hand loading for it and saw what it could really do. One of my favorite guns and rounds now. Doesn't hurt that the gun is an OM mid-frame converted by Harton.
