So I'm aware of Ruger 's tendency to produce tight cylinder throats in their 45 Colt single actions , as I'm sure most of are , but what about ,(generally speaking ), the other calibers ? Don't recall hearing much over the years about the 357 or 44 magnums . What about the 327 Federal ? I need to get a good plug gauge set i guess ?

All the .44 calibers that I have had , and also all that I have at the present time have been right on the money to shoot .430 bullets. 10 or 12 so fare. Over the last 50 years.

All of my .45’s were indeed tight. My .357’s were a little tight for cast. They would take a .357 pin, but not a .358. My .327’s have all been a tight .314. The only ones with large throats were a .38 spl lcrx. They would take a .359 pin, but were all the same. I have a .32hrm that will take a .315 pin, but they at least are all the same.

I've seen a couple Rugers. 45's mostly too small (a few too big) 44's are good, unless you have a real oddball with an oversized barrel. 357's usually good, like he said .357" The blued 41's I saw were almost always good, newer stainless ones could run small. 40/10/38-40 tight to very tight, though I've not seen any of the newest runs in those calibers, so I don't know. 32's tight. 30's, very tight. 454's oversized, I assume intentionally.

.357s have been pretty good.
.44s have been slightly oversized, but still good.
.45s have all been tight, they got reamed
.454s over by .002-.003.
.475s over by .002 as well.
They still shoot well with properly sized bullets as long as your barrel/throat dimensions play well together.
My .475 is way oversized but shoots .477 bullets into small groups. Just need to find the right bullet.

I have a standing offer to measure anyones cylinder throats free of charge except the price of postage. I will check your cast bullets for hardness, roundness and correct size. I have all 3 sets of pin gauges to measure from .22s up to .500s so just PM me if you need help.
