I’m sure someone has done this but I can’t recall any pictures. I’m thinking of putting my regular Blackhawk grip on a flat top but would sure like to see pictures of one before going to the trouble to see if it looks right to me. Thanks.

Tim, I assume you're speaking about the XRN-3RED frame? if so there's a customer pic on my website that is set up this way. www.lonestarcustomgrips.com/customer-pics.html26th row, middle pic. Stainless flat top with mountains in the background.

Chief The "feel" will be more different than the "look". It takes a pretty sharp eye to see the difference. As the saying goes "you'll never notice the difference on a galloping horse". Dan

Approach this project with caution. I've put quite a number of the standard gripframes on flattops.
There needs to be an extra notch cut on top beside the trigger opening. I use a Dremel and all have worked fine. Miss it and you have an expensive trout line weight.

My question is why would you want to do this? I replaced many XR3-REDs with XR3s but would not want to go the opposite direction. I don't think you'd even notice a difference in a picture, however my hands and knows the difference as the former with a little more room behind the trigger guard allows recoil to get a running start on my knuckle.

My only reason for doing this is to use aluminum gripframes to lighten the gun. Other than that, I can't see the need.
But, I never discourage anyone from tinkering. Have fun...

Simply put- the only reason I was considering it is because I have an extra grip frame sitting around with a set of grips I really like and the only gun without a great set of grips is a flat top. Sounds like the consensus is that I need to get a new full size Blackhawk and a nice set of grips for my flat top. I’m sure the wife will understand...

Of course. Nothing a new Blackhawk and new grips for the midframe wouldn't fix.
PROBLEM SOLVED 😁😁😁

Glad I checked in here first, I'm not a guy that should be cutting on anything except a steak.
