beautiful ivories. Found this one a couple months ago and it just got home. I've never handled one of these L frame fixed sight guns but I'm in Love! I actually bought it mostly for the grips which aren't perfect but darned nice ivory. They may end up on my M19.327/.32-20 The pics don't do the grips justice. Could there be a .41sp in the works soon?

That's an old one with the logo on the side plate, only the first L frames had that. Very nice gun!

Could there be a .41sp in the works soon? Better shoot it with full house 158 grainers first before you tinker with the chambering. If it shoots half as good as mine, you'll be thrilled! Tiny little groups centered at the top edge of the front sight. I'm not loading for it (yet), but mine really likes PMC Bronze 158gr JSP. Congrats on finding a beautiful combo!

I agree with Stumpbuster, 357s in these L frames really shoot small tight groups.

I have never handled a 581, but it has always appealed to me, they have a “ smooth “ look to them, and come pretty close to the perfect holster gun.

They almost never go to get converted before they're shot and this one won't go anyhow. Just thinking an L frame conversion would be sweet. In fact just by chance, not one but two 686 mountain gun barrels "fell" in my lap this month. 2 unicorns at once is unbelievable. They'll be perfect for the L frame conversions. Obviously on adjustable sight guns but a 681 conversion could be sweet and they seem to be readily available as LEO turn ins.... This revolver is probably as tight as any S&W I've ever handled. I can't wait for the snow to subside so I can get to the range and shoot it!

I would cringe at the sight of a converted 581, especially one that old and that nice. A 586? Couldn't care less. I would think a 581 in nice shape is monumentally more rare than it's adjustable sighted counterpart.
