Just got home from my cabin in the woods that I share with a few good friends. We built it 8 or 10 years ago. It has one big room which includes the kitchen and two bunkrooms, running cold water from a 250 gallon tank we buried on a nearby hill, electricity, wood stove heat. I made the bunks from cedars cut off the farm. We can house a total of eight people. Seldom are more than three or four of us there simultaneously. The hearth and stove wall are big chunks of limestone which are plentiful on the property. The privvy is two rooms (not just two seats) and is insulated, heated and lighted. In spite of the comfort, I don't dally too long in there since the ventilation system isn't all that effective. Our cabin is on only 180 acres, but it is surrounded on 3 sides by 1500 acres of state wildlife management property. There is no firearm hunting on the state land during deer season, so we enjoy little or no pressure from other hunters. That's a good thing. Several nice Kentucky bucks and oodles of smooth-heads are taken from our farm each season. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to take pictures of people or deer during the week. Anyway, I was the last to leave, and as such, I had to clean it up. The pics will prove to the others that I did my part. Nine days of muzzle-loading will follow in a couple of weeks. I'll be back after a doe or two with my Ruger Old Army. Don't be afraid to ask me for an invite.

Sweet Setup there. Those cedar post look great. This part of the country we have all of the straight cedar post you need! Love the wood stove also.

That is really nice! Dont know what part of KY it is in, but my buddy and I are going to sneak over to the Greyson Lake area this spring and do some gobbler hunting and scout for some bowhunting spots.

Very nicely done. Ask you for an invite? Shucks, if I were closer to KY, I'd beg you for one.

Went back this weekend. Took my brother and my nephews so they could wander around a take a few squirrels. I know...they look like nieces. If they were my kids then I'd....well, never mind. I was there to stock supplies and do a couple of housekeeping chores. I had to rearrange some of the furniture to make room for some new storage shelves and the HDTV. Muzzle-loading season starts next Saturday and runs nine full days. I also took time to make sure I had a secure stand over a likely area. I'm looking forward to next week. As it turned out, the little guys preferred the TV to the cold great outdoors and thought little of hunting squirrels.
