And I found just the right one today. It's a S&W 30-1 3 inch round butt. Pinned barrel but no recessed cylinder. Honestly it doesn't look fired outside of the factory. Even the grips number to the gun. I'm not sure on the date of manufacture, still researching that.

That is one slick unit. I hope it shoots like a house on fire.

Great find Matt; I like it. Be forewarned, this is just the entryway into the .32 rabbit hole.

I've dabbled in the 32 game before but never got into it strong. Had a 327 SP-101 4.2" but I let it go to get a 3" version when they re-released them. I wanted to carry the 3" but I never have. My 327 supplies just sit around now while I focus on other stuff This old S&W is really sweet though. I need a mold and some brass.

I'm going to buy the next decent S&W 31 I see.... Did pick up a 327 LCR that makes a fine little carry gun.

I load a little 98 grain Magnus Bullet Company wadcutter for my 32s. Primary loads are for the Walther wadcutter gun. They really run well in the LCR for those little old ladies with arthritic hands. They can stand an extended shooting session with the WC loads and then load the thing up with 32 mag or 327 for carry..

Nice find, I’ve got .32 mags in S&W Model 16, Dan Wesson and Ruger Single Six Bisley as well as a Bisley .327 and Marlin .32. They are all great fun to shoot. Love the .32s.

Be forewarned, this is just the entryway into the .32 rabbit hole. Yup, I have plenty of very satisfying revolvers with larger holes. Yet the lions share of my shooting time is spent shooting, loading for, experimenting with, modifying and general putzing with 32s. Fun , mild to wild and entertaining . For a very affordable alternative I stumbled onto a used, un-loved Charter Arms in 32 mag ($200 out the door). Not my best or favorite 32 but a dandy pack around pocket pistol. ----------- Undercoverette wearing dog bone grips ------------------------------------- and it fits well in J Frame leather ------------------

That is a really nice gun...
I saw one just like it on GunBroker a few weeks ago and was tempted to bid on it but it had a square butt and I really prefer round....
FYI...non-Magnum guns never had recessed chambers...only the Magnums until about 1982...
