Axe, Nice, the early Single-Sixes are getting hard to find! One of these days I'm going to find me one of these. NICE! I happen to have a few of 'em..... My one "shooter" is a "custom" with a 7-1/2" barrel. Carl, aka flatgate

Yo Carl! Is it my eyes or does the original trigger have more of a curl than the conversion part? I'll be changing mine out later today and be able to hold them side by side... Maybe take a pic to two to post.. ;D

Neat looking piece Axehandle. Wish Ruger would reintroduce the flatgate, even if it were limited production.

Wish Ruger would reintroduce the flatgate, even if it were limited production. I agree. They "missed their chance" when they issued a 50th Anniversary Single-Six...... Carl

So... Carl ole buddy... Where were "The Ruger Boys" when Ruger chose to not flatgate the 50th gun?

Unfortunately, back in those days, the Company was totally clueless as to what a group of thousands of collectors might want. They've come a long way since, i.e. the 50th Anniv. Blackhawks with their flat top straps and the 50th Anniv. Super Blackhawk, etc. I mean, for crying out loud, their 50th Anniv. Single-Six had a "hog wallow" top strap instead of a drift rear sight, a 4-5/8" barrel instead of the original's 5-1/2", a round loading gate and goofy looking wood grips instead of the black style in use from '53 until around '60/'61. I chose to refrain from buying one......... Carl

I hate to admit I once owned a Flatgate, and in a fit of complete madness, I sold it. I have regreted that sell ever since. Congratulations to you sir, on a fine find!

I used have a flatgate too & traded it off at the time I didn't need two Single Six's. I have wished a lot of times I had that gun back. I was younger & more foolish in the early 70s. Frank
