I just won a raffle for a PSA 10.5" pistol carbine... I have never seen one of these asnd honestly it just doesn't do much for me. Can they be converted back to a rifle with a std stock and a legal barrel?

Can they be converted back to a rifle with a std stock and a legal barrel? ***** Last I heard, ATF regulations permit the turning of a pistol into a rifle, not rifle into pistol. I do not pretend knowledge on the fine print. While its action is the same solid-bottom receiver as the Remington 40-X rifle, the XP-100 was made specifically as a pistol----to remove any doubt as to its origin with ATF. I’ve shot the Colt M-16 XM-177, a.k.a. CAR-15, with 11-inch barrel, a veritable concussion grenade. Hate to fire one inside a building. The sensation was worse than the muzzle blast from a Ruger Mini-14 select-fire AC 556K with 13-inch barrel. I am told the “pistol” version AR-15 with 10.5-inch barrel works best with 50 grain bullets, not heavies. David Bradshaw

I believe the ruling is that if it starts as a pistol it can go to a rifle then back to a pistol. But if it starts as a rifle it cannot be converted to a pistol.

From the way I read it. If I put an M4 stock on it the barrel has to be at least 16"?

From the way I read it. If I put an M4 stock on it the barrel has to be at least 16"? Or you will need an approved ATF Form 1 and a tax stamp to register it as a Short Barrel Rifle (SBR). I'd just sell it and buy what I wanted, personally.

Yep. 16-16.1” for a buttstock. But you can put a collapsible Brace on it as a pistol and use it. You won’t know the difference in that and an SBR.

Yes you can convert it all day into a rifle if the lower receiver began life as a pistol.
Put an m4 or what stock you want, you will have to change your tube to a 2-6 what position tube you want just match commercial or mil spec tube to a comm. Or mil spec stock.
But buy a midlength or rifle complete upper it's the easier fix, if not you will be stripping that upper which has a pistol length barrel, gas tube, and forend. Or sell the pistol complete upper and build your own upper. You can make an 11.5" barrel a legal 16" by pin and welding a 5.5" flashhider on it. If 10.5" you'll have to change everything above like I mentioned. I've built so many AR's in different calibers and configuration I've lost track.

Thought I didn't like them either... Built a Tac Sol AR based 22 pistol and I was lost... 22LR, 556, 7.62x39, 300 BO.... I'm thinking my head is getting soft. Hotdawg triggers, prism sights... and the muzzle blast on an indoor range! ![](https://i.imgur.com/mB5Qbyg.jpg)

I talked to the FFL that is doing the transfer today. He said that he would write a check for the amount he would sell it for and give it to the person the raffle was held for. She is the 32 year old wife of a co worker with breast cancer. I already gave back the 4 gallons of alcohol that was in the deal for another raffle so I think I will cut loose the gun and 5 of the 10 30 rd P Mags that I also won and call the 400 round can of 5.56 and the 5 mags a hell of a $100 investment.

Trade the upper for a 300BLK upper. There goes the atrocious muzzle blast.... Mine is a hoot to shoot. I have 3...a carbine, a Ruger Ranch Rifle and the pistol.

Dmize: Sounds like a good choice. I've known far too many people with cancer. It's bad stuff.
