Gamo Whisper Varminter 4.5 (0.177). This rifle is advertised to push the PB pellets at 1200 FPS and Lead at 1000 FPS.
The rifle is as new with a Gamo 3x9 scope with a light and red laser. The scope mount has rings for the light and laser on top of the front rings. The light and laser also came with pressure switches that Velcro to the fore arm.
I shot the rifle a few times today and had the lazar dead on at thirty feet. Guess what! There was a big black possum on the front porch this evening. Red dot on his head and the possum was dead.
Did I ever tell you how much I dislike possums?
Now to try it on the darn squirrels that are chewing on my siding.

Tom, when you get a chance, could you do some real accuracy testing? I have purchased a couple of air rifles over the years based on accuracy expectations and they have not lived up to them - not even close.
After being told by fellow shooters a Beeman R1 should be able to shoot 1" groups at 50 yards and smaller at closer distances that has proven to be WAY wrong.
I know the range of these things is limited (.22 is a little better) but what kind of accuracy can you get from that Gamo at 25 or 30 yards?
Thanks Mark

I had an RWS on extended loan from a friend years ago. it was the highest velocity one with the 3x9 scope on it. it would shoot a ragged 3 shot, one hole group at 25 yards. I used it to shoot a big rat that had taken up residence in the woodpile by the kennel ( so, no poison ). it would completely penetrate a grapefruit at that range.
