Good morning all,
Almost a year ago I came across one of the above mentioned rifles, which far outclasses myself as a rifleman. This particular model is built with the intention of using a scope, which I intend to mount at some point. However, I always prefer my scoped rifles to be equipped with iron sights as well.
For any of you with experience, I'd like to know what my options are, remaining as economical as possible, for mounting iron sights on this rifle. On other models, I have seen sight options that are as simple as drilling a small tap for the front sight and equipping a band style blade feature, and mounting an aftermarket rear sight in the scope taps in the rear. I've yet to find this option for the BAR, and would like further advice, not only on what to look for, but also where to look.
Sincerest thanks for your input.

I have one in 30-06 and had one many years ago. Both had iron sights. I was of the assumption that all the BARs were so equipped from the factory. I'd check the barrel for filler screws as the original sights may have been removed. If it has them, you should be able to find replacement Browning sights with not too much trouble.

I believe you are correct with the base model. Unfortunately, the Safari model is not equipped with iron sights, this and a little engraving being the only difference between the two. Being the first owner, I can confidently say no iron sights have been removed, and the factory has declined to pre-tap their product with iron sight capabilities. However, I appreciate the suggestion.

Interesting. My current one is a standard model but my previous one was a Safari and had open sights. Must have changed somewhere along the line.

Let’s list a few points.... Browning BARPositive: * Fine offhand rifle. * Soft recoil from gas operation. * Generally smooth trigger take-up. * Fast repeat shots in woods. * General very good hunting accuracy. * Secure scope mountain to receiver (my experience is with steel receivers). * Better than Remington semi-autos. * Easier takedown than Heckler & Koch 770. Negative:* Lacks reliability of top military rifles. * Lacks simple teardown of top military rifles. * Lacks accuracy of M1 Garand and M14. * Lacks ZERO consistency as barrel heats. * Less accurate and reliable than Heckler & Koch 770. If want iron sights, look for a BAR with iron sights. If the deal offered is more important than iron sights, buy it and stick to glass. I know a couple of hunters who cannot abide .30-06 recoil from a bolt rifle, who very much like the BAR .30-06. David Bradshaw

An NECG barrel band front with a simple dovetail flip down rear would work with your scope use.
Trapr
or drill and tap receiver for receiver sight, longer sight radius helps older eyes.
