LOL. I wondered how long it would take for that auction to make it here. My son beat me to the shower this morning before we left early for a show. I decided to check email while I waited and this was in a saved search email. Pure dumb luck because my son takes long showers. This particular gun is very interesting as it is only the second one I’ve ever seen with a Houston TX frame address. Grover was in Houston only briefly before moving to Richmond. The Houston frames are different than the Richmond frames. This will be a very interesting gun to measure and compare to the other Houston gun, which I also own. Hopefully I can get Ken Hurst on the phone and find out when he engraved it and for whom. If he did it for Grover he will be another known “factory” engraver.

I assume we are talking about this being a South Texas Army model? Good thing I was working on the grandsons playhouse this morning or it would go West instead of east. Nice snag Steve!

You would have had to have been working on the playhouse at 3 AM your time. Lol. I think I bought it at 6:20 AM Eastern. It is a South Texas Army, but what makes it super rare is it being a Houston gun. I have no idea how many guns he made before moving to Richmond. Previously, I thought he hadn’t built any TLAs in Houston. It is possible he used Houston frames in Richmond and didn’t build any when he actually was in Houston. Also, notice the caliber stamp. Not how he did it when on Richmond. This is a pivotal gun for my research.

I’d have gotten up at three if I knew this was coming for sale😀 Glad to see this can be a critical part of the book research Steve. It enddd where it should have.

I've sworn not to go down the TLA rabbit hole but I might have gone down it for this one.....
I got up at 4 AM MST to go hunt and almost checked emails but decided this AM should be electronics free.....
I agree with Robb. It's where it belongs.....

Great score! I don't own a TLA but would have unlimbered the checkbook for that one

That's awesome. Congrats and I hope we can expect to hear your analysis when it arrives.
Is the finish a satin nickel, chrome?

I'm guessing some sort of satin nickel. Jim Riggs used to do an e-nickel on TLAs. I don't know if he would have been doing that this early or not.
